So many of you are injecting colour into your weddings… and I just love bright, bold and beautiful celebrations. Modern brides are combining glamorous dresses and red lipstick with statement bouquets and striking detail – and I love this trend for statement wedding style.
Today I have something fabulous to show you: a 1920s inspired bridal shoot from one of our classic English wedding venues, with lovely Ayshea from AJG Photography.
“I love Hylands House and after capturing a wedding reception there earlier this year, I knew it would make a beautiful venue for a styled shoot. It had to have a very rich and decadent theme to the day, to be in keeping with the rooms, and as I love Downton Abbey and The Great Gatsby I thought a fusion of English splendour and 1920’s glamour would be perfect. by Ayshea Goldberg
Clare did lots of research for the types of flowers to use and again went for something that she doesn’t get asked for a lot – we wanted to show that not all weddings have to be the same and by giving these visual suggestions we could show brides what else is available to them.
Hair and makeup had been trying different looks and when Rhianna painted their nails red I was so happy to try something that was so eye catching and different (and I love red nails anyway!)
I decided to paint some red apples gold just to add to the styling and to tie in the colours.
I found a group of very like minded creative wedding suppliers across Essex (a few are actually based in the Hylands Estate Stables Studios which are open on weekends) who also shared my vision, and by working together to prepare by sharing ideas and a pinterest board, coming together on the day, we all knew that we had something a bit special to showcase our talents.

Laura knew exactly which dresses would fit the venue and scene and wanted to showcase something a little different, which these dresses were and her accessories were fab! We didn’t use veils in the end as we felt they weren’t right for the styles or theme.
On the day we had so much fun and everyone was able to join in and see the looks and scenes coming together – everyone put their heart and soul into the planning and the day. At the end of the shoot, many asked when I’d be organising the next one!
