It really is that time of year when wedding businesses rethink their online marketing, and I’ve had dozens of enquiries already this week. One – from a leading bridal beauty brand – inspired me to write this feature. They asked if I’d consider a free trial before they committed to advertising…
“We are very interested but still working out our budget for next year. Do you offer any kind of free trial before we commit so that we can see how well we do?”
I can see where they’re coming from: as a small independent business owner myself, I think carefully before committing money to advertising and blog sponsorship. Will it work?
I also have a degree in marketing. I know advertising is far from a guaranteed source of success. I know it’s risky; I know it’s something to consider very carefully.
… and this is one reason why I love being the owner of a wedding blog. I’ve devised my own unique way to help my advertisers promote their brands. Here’s my reply to the business who asked me about a free trial:
I don’t offer a free trial as such, but the English Wedding Blog is all about interaction and regular promotion of your business – we don’t just stick an ad on the home page and expect it to do all the work! Sponsorship means you can have regular features published on the blog: news, advice articles, styled shoots and real weddings you’ve been involved in.
There are a couple of ways to be featured before you sign up for sponsorship though…
If you have a styled shoot or real wedding which might work for readers of the blog, then do get in touch with the photographer and ask them to submit images for consideration for a feature. Any feature will include a write up listing all suppliers involved.
Alternatively, if you’d like to write an advice article for my readers I will happily publish this with a link to your business at the end of the feature!
I decided to publish my reply so all of the wedding businesses out there can see. Most blogs will offer the opportunity for regular features – but in my experience (and I’ve advertised on other blogs as well) none mean it in quite the way I do.
Sponsors of the English Wedding Blog can have their own login to write features here. This way, they can share news and articles as often as once a fortnight. We all get to know them a little better; their message reaches more brides and grooms.
So no, I don’t offer a free trial (I can’t afford to work for free, as much as I wish I could!) but I do offer my sponsors more. Interested? Details are here… Advertise on the English Wedding Blog
