Later today we’re heading for the wedding tent at Kirstie Allsopp’s second Handmade Fair – and we’re ridiculously excited about the whole thing! Before we go, I have a superb wedding to share with you all. You’ll LOVE this! We’re talking English sophistication, classy styling and elegant touches in a magnificent venue: Pendrell Hall. The bride is beautiful; the entire day just makes me feel happy.
Tim and Nerissa give a glowing review for their photographers Rob & Sarah Gillespie. It’s interesting to hear how a husband and wife photography team can bring so much to your wedding: for today’s bride and groom this was one of the (many!) reasons they chose Rob and Sarah as their wedding photographers. “Due to their vast wedding experience they were able to help and advise us as to what photos worked well and the timings for the day which really helped. We would highly recommend Rob and Sarah!”
More from the fabulous Rob & Sarah Gillespie Photographers
“The detail and moments that Rob and Sarah captured were just truly magical. We have had so many positive comments… On the day they were both amazing making us feel very relaxed and this was commented on by our guests as well. ”
Watch out for the wedding cake, which looks fantastic! It was made by a family friend and I just love how beautifully it is displayed: it’s wonderful to see something lovingly made and presented…
Enjoy the wedding, and have a lovely day everyone!

How did you choose your photographer?
Web searches, informal interview
Were you pleased with your wedding photographer? Do tell… we love a brilliant review!
We loved the fact that they were a husband and wife team and had lots of experience of working together. They both have different perspectives on how a photo should be taken but both believe in telling an observational story. On the day they were both amazing making us feel very relaxed and this was also commented on by our guests as well. Due to their vast wedding experience they were able to help and advise us as to what photos worked well and the timings for the day which really helped. We would highly recommend Rob and Sarah!
Tell us about the moment you saw your wedding photos for the first time?
Firstly we saw a wedding preview slideshow and this was an exciting teaser before we saw the final photos. We were at home when we saw the final pictures and we viewed them together. They were/are amazing and really capture our day. The detail and moments that Rob and Sarah captured were just truly magical. We have had so many positive comments.

Tell us about your accessories: jewellery, shoes and anything else!
My shoes were Jimmy Choo (silver sparkly) had to be done! My brother bought me a pearl bracelet and my nan let me borrow a Diamond and Sapphire ring. My veil and tiara were bought from Princess Brides.
And what did the groom wear? Any recommendations for tailors?
He hired his suit from Blooms Wolverhampton. He wore a navy blue tailed suit with a silver waist coat and blush pink cravat and pocket square (these were made by My Little Wedding Shop, Bridgnorth, Shropshire) they matched the bridesmaid material. All the groomsmen also wore fluorescent pink socks with the date and their relationship to us printed on them.
Beautiful bridesmaids: what did your best girls wear?
I designed the dresses they wore and were based on my own dress. Again these were made by My Little Wedding Shop, Bridgnorth, Shropshire. The males all had the matching cravats and pocket squares.
Hair and make-up – did you DIY or hire a professional?
My make up was beautifully done by Lakhjit Grewal, Wolverhampton.
My hair was styled by Royston from Royston Blythe, Wolverhampton.
Describe your wedding flowers. Who arranged them for you? (florist details would be lovely please)
My flowers were part of Pumpkin Events styling. The flowers were ordered and arranged by Abigail Cunningham director of Pumpkin Events. My flowers were all based around a pink colour palette.
General styling – did your venue need much decoration?
Pendrell Hall is a stunning venue and has recently been renovated but Pumpkin Events added those extra details to make the venue really come alive.
Crafts and makes – tell us about any homemade elements of your wedding… did you enjoy them?
Our favours were Cancer research badges which were put on the name places in memory of Tim’s mom. These were worn by all of the guests after the wedding breakfast which was lovely to see.
We also had a Jenga set for guests to sign and make comments on and a pre-wedding photo shoot guest book for the guests to write longer comments in.
Tim’s uncle also made a photo wall which included photos of us both when we were younger and it had framed apertures for guests to pose behind and take photos.
The wedding cake: what kind of cake did you choose and why?
We chose a four layer cake: two fruit layers and two lemon sponge layers. We both love these flavours and we knew that one of the fruit layers would keep for us to enjoy at a later date. It was made by a family friend.
Entertainment: any musical recommendations, surprises or treats?
In the church we had Tim’s school choir sing and keep the guests entertained whilst we signed the register.
The Smooth Criminals entertained in the evening – a very talented band who got all our guests dancing and singing!
On the day tips and advice:
Enjoy, take it all in. Keep to your timings it all goes too fast!
What’s the best thing about being married?
