Did you know the English Wedding Blog has been a top UK wedding blog since 2011? Time flies when you’re having fun… and I’m constantly surprised by the new suppliers I discover here. Today it’s an incredible venue: Weymouth’s Nothe Fort, where a group of creative Dorset wedding suppliers got together to style one of the best shoots I’ve seen this year!
Lovely Rachel from Exquisitely You wedding & event specialists got in touch to share the shoot with me. I love the way the pretty details contrast with the backdrop of the fort – an old military base (and while I’m a pacifist through and through, there’s something thrilling in seeing a war base taken over and put to better use!) The cake is divine; the flowers super pretty and the balloons and big letters perfectly on trend for a summer wedding!
Images are by lovely Dorset photographer Darima Frampton, and capture the venue’s character alongside the beautiful details of the shoot. I will let Rachel tell you more…
“Nothe Fort is a beautiful historic venue on Weymouth seafront and I was thrilled when they asked me to arrange a photo shoot there.
We wanted to show that whilst the Fort is a large military venue it is also perfect for weddings if you can just look past the cannons!
We settled on a theme with a 50’s accent as I just love a tea length dress and the beautiful pastel colours work perfectly with the textured grey walls of the fort.
The huge helium balloons add a lovely fun element to the shoot and were great fun to work with. Pastel blue shoes and the fantastic vintage caravan photo booth and cocktail bar added to the relaxed humorous vibe of the day.
The multitude of small flower arrangements in mismatched vases and tea cups enabled me to reuse the flowers in different configurations throughout the shoot, and is a great way to get the most from your flowers without anyone noticing!
It also keeps costs down as the arrangements are loose and informal but also include shorter stems which would otherwise be thrown away.
