Wedding Craft workshops at Kirstie Allsopp’s Handmade Fair 18th – 20th September 2015

Facebook tells me I’m 80% northern… and so the trip down to Hampton Court Palace for Kirstie Allsopp’s Handmade Fair is always a BIG adventure. This year I’ll be in the wedding tent at the UK’s best craft event, teaching 300 or so of you the basics of modern calligraphy. It’s going to be amazing – I can’t wait! (I’m a little bit scared too… but in a good way!)

The Handmade Fair 2015

Last year The Handmade Fair was very new. The craft workshops were fabulous and the little shopping areas were such a treat – but the one thing they missed was wedding crafts. This year – we got ourselves a whole area for wedding DIY! Woohoo!!

The Handmade Fair is open for 3 days in September, from Friday the 18th until Sunday the 20th. I’ll be there every day, mainly shopping and then teaching calligraphy before lunch, then sipping Prosecco or craft gin and consequently doing some slightly more random shopping each afternoon!

The Wedding Skills workshops run all day, every day. They begin with Lauren‘s hands on tutorial for making marbled stationery, then it’s me with my calligraphy skills workshop at 11:15 and the lovely Harriet Head is hosting classes for making veiled fascinators at half past twelve.

In the afternoon you can decorate wedding cake pops with Clare, make your own wedding flower crown with Kitten and craft an intricate papercut wedding cake topper with lovely Poppy Chancellor.

Plus there are so many wonderful shops to explore and discover – you’ll need a full day to get the most from the Handmade Fair this year. (I had 3 days last year – it was barely enough!) Some of my favourites this year are:

  • The English Stamp Company – they made me the loveliest calligraphy stamps earlier this year!
  • Paperpoms – also giving their brilliant skills workshop in the papercraft tent – I went last year; it was fab!
  • Gemma Lofthouse for wonderfully colourful eco-friendly home fabrics
  • Katy May Designs for the prettiest home accessories you’ll see…
  • Intricate wirework art by the fabulous Lucy Elisabeth

Do, please come along if you’re free that weekend – I’d love to meet you! Tickets for the calligraphy skills workshops are selling fast, but there are plenty of places left for Friday and Sunday (and a few on Saturday). Full experience tickets include a workshop of your choice, and are the only way to guarantee a space in the workshops you want to attend… but if you’d like to see what’s available on the day you can also buy a more affordable entry only ticket – both are available via The Handmade Fair’s official website

I really hope I’ll see you there!
