Happy Monday morning everyone! Today I need your help – September is going to be crazy for me and I’m looking to fill the English Wedding Blog starting this week with gorgeous real weddings… which I simply can’t do without your help. I’m looking for crafty, inspirational, gorgeously photographed real weddings from all around the UK – please don’t be shy and submit here! And I have the loveliest real wedding today to whet your appetite…
Steve and Charlotte married in Surrey and had a pretty barn reception full of home made touches which I think you’ll love. The flowers are super pretty, the bride and groom are gorgeous, the venue is beautifully decorated – the result of “a lovely family Sunday” with everyone helping out!
Today’s fabulous images are by Charlotte Razzell Photography. I’m so thrilled Charlotte sent in this beautiful wedding and I’d love to see more! You can discover and follow lovely Charlotte here:

Wedding photographer’s website:
How did you choose your photographer?
I searched for photographers who had also photographed our venue and had a look in detail to see what they looked like. Charlotte’s were the best by far.
Were you pleased with your wedding photographer? Do tell… we love a brilliant review!
Yes, absolutely. The pictures told the story of the day… Great when it flies by!!!
Tell us about the moment you saw your wedding photos for the first time?
We were very pleased, we were both very proud of the day and how it went and all the decisions we had made.
Taylors Farm Retreat
Can you describe your wedding in fewer than 10 words?
The best day and most proud day of our lives!
Your wedding style or theme:
English/ traditional/ barn/ relaxed/ farm.
Where did you find your suppliers? (Blogs, magazines, recommendations?)
Research… on the web and also recommendations from our brilliant wedding planner Sarah Clifford (worth her weight in Gold!)
What’s your top tip for saving money?
Ummmmm….. we didn’t do very well on that front!
… and which elements of your wedding are you glad you spent more on?
We would absolutely recommend a wedding planner – you think you can do it all yourself but they have done it before, they know the industry, they can advise/ point you in the right direction and by far the best part was having Sarah Clifford there on the day to make sure everything went to plan.
Also… the little bits and bobs like the personalised Belgian chocolate favours were expensive but it was all the little things and details that our guests picked up on that made us glad that we went ahead.
Where did you buy or source your wedding stationery – or was making it a labour of love?
We had a very kind neighbour design and print it for us – we have asked him if he would like to do it for anyone else but he has unfortunately said no… a real shame as he has a talent!
Did you fall in love with your wedding dress?
Yes, I am not a girly girl at all but I have to say I really loved the dress – it was comfy too!
Wedding dress designer and bridal boutique:
Blue was the designer and I bought it from Grace of Westcott which unfortunately has closed down now.
Tell us about your accessories: jewellery, shoes and anything else!
Shoes are not my friend… I have size 9 feet but I bought them from Debenhams. My jewellery were pearls – I wore my Mums pearl necklace as something borrowed but my earrings and bracelet were a gift from my Grandma Netty.
And what did the groom wear? Any recommendations for tailors?
He wore a great suit from Hire5 in Guildford, we cannot recommend them enough – Simon Prince and his partner Fay went above and beyond to help us and were really great people to talk to and would advise where we needed it.
Beautiful bridesmaids: what did your best girls wear?
Pale pink dresses, all the same.
Hair and make-up – did you DIY or hire a professional?
Leanne Spikesman did the girls and my hair (did a great job) and Emma Rumble did my make up – she achieved a miracle! Emma was a great person to calm my nerves – she is very motherly and both very good at what they do.
Describe your wedding flowers. Who arranged them for you? (florist details would be lovely please)
Gill Pike was a great florist, she didn’t see initially what I was envisaging but she worked and worked and got it spot on… her passion and friendliness totally threw me, in a good way and she wasn’t expensive. Gill did anything she could to help us.
General styling – did your venue need much decoration?
Yes, the whole thing was a clean slate.
Crafts and makes – tell us about any homemade elements of your wedding… did you enjoy them?
My dear Mum spent days and days making our bunting…. She said it was great, it stopped her drinking her wine so quick! She made sooo much of it! We are thinking of renting it out! We used the left over material from the bunting to decorate the jugs and the jam jars – my sister in law helped me do these – we spent a whole day doing it and the boys watched films – a nice family Sunday! Also a dear friend Fran lent us lots of bits and bobs to add to our wedding – she wrote up the table plan and gave us beautiful old china tea cup sets to use alongside the jam jars and jugs as table decorations.
The wedding cake: what kind of cake did you choose and why?
Chocolate and lemon – no particular reason. We had a design in mind and our wedding planner helped us sort this out last minute.
Entertainment: any musical recommendations, surprises or treats?
Festival Nights were brilliant as an evening entertainment band and Nathan the guitarist played music during the reception drinks – this created a great atmosphere and would definitely recommend this.
On the day tips and advice:
Enjoy it! Take a moment to step back to take it all in! Appreciate who is there… they are all there to celebrate your special day with you! Oh yeh… also make sure you actually spend time with your new husband/ wife!
What’s the best thing about being married?
You get to be on the same team and you get to spend the rest of your life with your best friend.
