Goodbye everyone! I’m off on my travels today, heading for the bright lights of London and to Kirstie Allsopp’s Handmade Fair at Hampton Court, where I’ll be giving calligraphy skills workshops over the weekend. Excited much?! I’m nervous, excited and finding it all a little surreal! I’d love for you to come along – it’s a great opportunity to learn how to use a calligraphy pen to create quirky scripts to write your own wedding invitations – and there’s so much more to see and do over the weekend.
This is every DIY bride’s dream – there will be craft stalls and shops including some of Britain’s top crafters. You can get all of your ribbon, fabrics, paper goodies and more for your wedding day. Learn jewellery techniques, cake decorating and flower arranging… and while you’re there visit the artisan food markets, see lovely Kirstie chatting to stars of the crafting world and be a part of the world pomination record attempt!
In my calligraphy skills workshop you can play with traditional pointed calligraphy pens and learn how to make gorgeous, quirky handwritten boxes with gift tags inspired by some of Kirstie’s own projects! We’ve ordered 300 pens and nibs, and 300 little gift boxes and tags for you to write on, decorate and take home. They’re perfect for Christmas… but I like them even better as wedding favours / place settings!
The Handmade Fair
19th-21st September, Hampton Court Palace
Calligraphy skills workshops with me are at 2pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and last for half an hour. I’ll be around after the workshops to chat and answer any questions as well, so if you’re thinking of doing a little writing for your wedding and need some help please come and say hello!
In the meantime, the English Wedding Blog has some gorgeous weddings courtesy of some of my wonderful sponsors to keep you entertained, inspired and excited about your own big day. I’ll be back next week – have a fabulous weekend everyone!
