Hello lovely! I have a beautiful Kent wedding to share with you this morning – it’s sunny and warm and I’m happy to be starting the day on a high with such a glorious celebration at Preston Court with gorgeous bride Claudia and her new hubby Peter.
They describe their summer wedding as a vintage garden party, and it’s that and so much more: with a charming sense of grace and style and a bouquet I just adore. There are paper poms everywhere, the cake is exquisite, and oh did I forget to mention the carousel?!
Huge thanks to Claudia and Peter for the lovely wedding report. Thanks also to fab wedding photographer Andrew of Howling Basset Photography – you can find out more about him here:
So without further procrastination from me, here’s one of the loveliest Kent weddings – and one of the most gorgeous and madly-in-love couples – I’ve seen this year. Enjoy.
Our wedding report: Claudia and Peter
Preston Court, Kent
Can you describe your wedding in a single sentence?
Vintage garden party
General styling – did your venue need much decoration?
We made our own invitations, paper pom-poms, sourced and decorated all the jars for the flowers.
What do you remember most about the wedding ceremony?
The ceremony took place outside in the gardens, on ‘Juliana’s Island’ situated in the lake at Preston Court, we were lucky enough to have beautiful sunshine. Our guests sat on the bank opposite.
DK was ‘20/20 sounds’ Our first dance was to ‘Kiss Me’ by Sixpence none the Richer, we chose that song because when we got engaged in Central Park in New York, it was the first song we heard when Pete had proposed and we were walking through the park.
Did you fall in love with your wedding dress?
I wore a Pronovias dress from Bows Bridal in Ashford, I love lace and knew as soon as I saw it that I loved it.
The groom wore:
Pete wore a navy three-piece suit, complete with bow tie, pocket watch and sleeve garters!
The whole day was everything I wanted and was so wonderful. I guess one memorable moment would be Pete just saying ‘Yes’ instead of ‘I do’!
