Michelle and Marc’s 1950s vintage wedding at Peover Golf Club with Pixies in the Cellar Photography

Oooh where to start?! Michelle and Marc are a cool couple whose vintage chic wedding with a modern twist has some fabulous details – stunning rustic country flowers, tweed and bow ties for the boys, a 1950’s styled bridal dress, with cornflower blue bridesmaids… oh it’s beautiful and there’s so much to tell! They married at Peover Golf Club in Cheshire, on the hottest day of last year – and their wedding photos tell such a magical story.

The beautiful bride and gorgeous groom chose Pixies in the Cellar to photograph their wedding. Peter and Sara – aka the Pixies! – told me, “We really enjoyed the whole day, Meesh and Marc had thought of everything for the day to run smoothly and for it to be very personal to them. What really shines through in the pictures is how much fun everyone had, it way just a great group of family and friends enjoying a great day with some very very summery weather!

Our wedding report: Michelle (Meesh) & Marc

Wedding photographer’s website

http://www.pixiesinthecellar.co.uk

Were you pleased with your wedding photographer?

Peter (Pixies in the Cellar) had known Marc and his bunch of friends for years (the Hyde surf dudes – no sea anywhere, but at every occasion Marc and his mates would be off to Abersoch) and knew he liked his previous photography and art work. It was the hottest day of the year and Meesh needed some convincing to brave the heat, but it was worth it and many of their friends have commented on the “wedding photos being the best they’d ever seen” 🙂

Wedding venue:

St.Oswald’s Church, Lower Peover, Knutsford, Cheshire and Peover Golf Club

Can you describe your wedding in a single sentence?

1950s vintage with an uber cool modern twist complemented by stunning rustic country flowers!

Your wedding style and theme:

Relaxed and cool (despite the heat!), tweed and bow ties for the boys – 1950’s styled bridal dress, with cornflower blue bridesmaids and one brides man too!

Wedding invitations and on the day stationery:

Hand made by bride & groom

Did you fall in love with your wedding dress?

Wedding dress designer and bridal boutique: Bellisima http://www.bellissimabridalgowns.co.uk

Glitz and sparkle: the bride’s accessories:

Lace gloves to give a vintage feel, the gloves were the ones Meesh wore on her first holy communion as a child (something old)! Shoes by Freya Rose in London customised with mother of pearl heels and lace bows. http://www.freyarose.com

The groom wore:

Suit – Next, Italian Leather brogues from ALDO, Made to measure shirt Frank Rostron, Manchester, cufflinks from Mulberry, bow ties from Ben Sherman

Beautiful bridesmaids: what did your best girls wear?

Cornflower blue chiffon dresses from Warehouse, flower girl dress from Mi Mariposa on line boutique – http://notonthehighstreet.com

Wedding flowers:

The very groovy, quirky and cool florist David Jayet-Laraffe, a good friend of theirs who is based, befitting of his character, in the Northern Quarter of Manchester http://www.frogflowers.co.uk A fantastic mix of contemporary and rustic flowers, with a general theme of blues, purples and whites, with a hint of the just picked look.

The ceremony:

Imagine a quintessentially English church, with rich dark interiors – you’re there! Tricky for photography, but looked absolutely stunning and a very smiley vicar too 🙂

General styling – did your venue need much decoration?

Meesh and Marc definitely have an arty flare, so were happy to make lots of decorations 🙂 Two huge ‘M’s for the fireplace surrounded by pictures of their grandparents. Table place names were vintage keys with luggage tags attached, order of service, cake toppers, table plan, invitations you name it they made it and all credit to Meesh and Marc as everything looked top notch 🙂

Their signing frame was by ‘bridesman’ Thomas Wolski, a fantastic artist based in London, worth checking out if you like quirky and contemporary art http://thomaswolski.com

The wedding cake: traditional or quirky?

Ella Bella Cakes. (Tel:07855 723750) Amazing tasting cakes and brilliant customer service. A detailed tower of cupcakes in blues and purples with a small top cake – perfectly complemented by Marc and Meesh’s cake topper complete with bunting!

Entertainment:

Live Wires booked through Alive Network  – these guys looked the part and played the part too, as we left the atmosphere was buzzing and the dance floor full!  The absolute best bit and most surprising, even to us was the flash mob first dance! All the bridal party joined in absolutely perfectly choreographed fashion, even to changing the brides shoes mid dance – blew everyones socks off! – check out the video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vEXbQtegYKU

There are so many things I adore about this wedding! I love how her gown is just ankle-length, I love the color of her bridesmaids’ dresses, I love the bridesmaids’ first look reactions and the photography looks absolutely beautiful. 🙂
