Morning lovely! How was your weekend? I hope you’re feeling fresh as a daisy and full of enthusiasm for the week ahead! I’ve been exploring the Eskdale valley with its beautiful rivers and idyllic scenery… oh and its charming little country pubs! I’ve also been to an eighth birthday party – that was so much fun! However you spent your weekend I hope it was as lovely as mine 🙂 … and now it’s time for a little wedding inspiration. I recently discovered the lovely Dragonfly and Blossom and wanted to show you Sarah’s exquisite flower wedding invitation collections.
The collections at Dragonfly and Blossom are all flower themed, and my favourites are the sweet peas, hydrangeas and lavender wedding invitations. Sarah has a real passion for wedding invitation design and I asked her to tell us a little more about the design process. I really love the way her flower designs can inspire a whole wedding theme… from the invitations to the bouquet and table decorations.
My vision … your wedding stationery is the first step for the styling of your perfect day
Many brides who come to me have no set plans in place for the styling of their day; they are early on in their arrangements and are just looking at options. This fills with me with excitement as the possibilities are endless. Stationery does not have to be simply a way of providing information to your guests; it sets the tone and style of the occasion and is just the start of adding that special and unique visual identity to your wedding day.
So, you are beginning to think through how you want your day to come together and the essence of how it may look … vintage, classic, country, city … flowers always have a key role and this is where my styling begins. Working with the bride (and groom!) we look at the signature flowers they love and how this is going to feature in their day. My designs take this and the detailed, delicate illustration is placed in their stationery which provides something entirely unique to them. This is just where it starts though… that personal image is the centre of your styling, something special, and we add elements of this throughout the day… place settings and gifts have small touches to add gentle coordination.
Flower arrangements and table designs compliment the styling and allow your guests to be enveloped in your world just for that day without it being overpowering. Less is more and the clean white space that starts in the stationery sets the tone perfectly. Quality is a must, not only with the print and stock of the stationery but with every detail and when it all comes together it creates the perfect experience.
And if you need some inspiration to get you started?
The predesigned stationery ranges I have available are ready to order but that doesn’t make them any less unique to the bride. Any of the illustrations – Hydrangea, Lavender, Ranunculus, Sweet Pea, Eucalyptus and Dandelion can be placed in any of the stationery layouts and with so many variations we can always end up with a finished design that can be cherished. Each of the illustrations has its own character … bold and strong, understated and classic or just perfectly delicate and pretty … everyone has a different favourite.
So where do I advise a bride or groom to begin?
It starts with a conversation. We can visualise their dream day and how it will look, where those special touches will be, where we can start and which flower we will work with. Don’t leave your stationery as an afterthought; make it the starting point of your journey. After all, it is the first impression your guest will receive of your special day and you can continue their experience with well thought out little touches that complement each other and leave them talking about how beautiful and personal your wedding day was for a long time to come.
