I’ll let you into a little secret: when I started writing the English Wedding Blog I didn’t know much about wedding dresses. My dream was to unite brides and grooms with the most creative and exciting wedding designers I could find. At the back of my mind was a hazy picture of a unique bride; a woman who wanted to be beautiful and different. This dream bride wasn’t afraid to amaze people, to break all the rules in a delightfully playful way. It’s only today I’ve discovered what she’d wear for her wedding: a Joanne Fleming designer wedding dress.
The Harebell and the Bee wedding dress by Joanne Fleming Design
“The softest French lace is hand dyed and layered over silk chiffon and silk crepe-back satin for this romantic style with cowl front neckline extending into a low V back neckline. The design closes at centre back with tiny silk covered buttons and rouleau loops, and is embellished with hand tinted silk organza flowers with freshwater pearl centres. A sterling silver bee nestles in the cluster of rosettes at the girdle waistline.”
Promised you a Rose Garden strapless rose lace tea-length wedding dress
“This elaborate cotton lace with silk chiffon-ribbon roses demands a simple shape. A boned strapless bodice with a convex-curve neckline and slightly panniered skirt silhouette displays the textured fabric beautifully…” Ice skates optional but I’d wear them!
Marthe tea Length wedding dress by Joanne Fleming
A wonderfully characterful silk satin and tulle drop-waisted ankle-length wedding dress. Available in ivory, mother of pearl (shown) or champagne or blush
Katya wedding dress with silk flower
Katya layers silk chiffon over silk crepe-back satin, with silk organza flower bodice. Joanne explains the concept of this beautiful wedding dress on her blog: “when I found Diana of Rose Garden Accessories who handmakes all sorts of lovely silk blooms, I decided to re-work my original design… This was the largest silk flower that Diana has ever been commissioned to make, but she rose to the challenge of course, and I really love the results…”
Jeanne 1920s inspired wedding dress by Joanne Fleming
Jeanne is a tea length embellished silk tulle 1920s inspired ‘robe de style.’ Named for a French designer, Jeanne has so many wonderful details and features I think you could get married in this and then frame it… or at least keep it somewhere you could look at it… Every. Single. Day!
Arabella full length wedding dress
Arabella features the most intricate embroidery detail on the bodice with wonderfully creative floral patterns on the skirt – shown in ivory; also available in champagne
The 2014 collection by Joanne Fleming Design
Joanne’s 2014 collection is intricately made, delicately beautiful and wonderfully eccentric. Who else would call a wedding dress “The Harebell and the Bee”?! Joanne’s dazzling, bespoke or made-to-order dresses give a modern twist to the silver screen glamour of the Thirties and Fifties.
Joanne Fleming Design is frequently featured on many of the leading wedding blogs as well as appearing in the bridal magazines. She was also thrilled to scoop the regional prize (London and the Southeast) for Best Bridal Designer for two consecutive years at the 2012 and 2013 Wedding Industry Awards).

The Harebell and the Bee is from a wonderful little poem by Emily Dickinson:
“Did the harebell loose her girdle
To the lover bee,
Would the bee the harebell hallow
Much as formerly?
Did the paradise, persuaded,
Yield her moat of pearl,
Would the Eden be an Eden,
Or the earl an earl?”
