Our wedding report: Nicola and Vito
Who proposed, and how?
Vito proposed on his birthday the 2nd of July 2009 while on holiday in Cannes in the south of France. He made a huge story book of our lives with 300 photos and lots of text that led to the present day on the last page with the question will you marry me? When I shut the book there was a diamond ring in a box.
Troon Parish Church and then Turnberry Hotel

How would you describe your wedding style?
Very very entertaining, very loud with an Italian and 50’s old Hollywood glamour feel!1 also it was 2 weeks before christams and it had been snowing aswell.
The wedding ceremony:
Religious or civil? religious
Which readings did you choose? Two reading one from the bible and one from my icon Marilyn Monroe.
The wedding reception:
What were your wedding highlights?
We got married in a stunning chuch in Troon and I came up the aisle to a quintet playing the Des’ree “Kissing You” song and then we had a singer sing Beyonce’s song “Halo” while we signed the register – the girl singer was out of this world, she then sang Christina Aguileras “Beautiful” for us going down the aisle.
At the champagne reception which was in the main lobby of the hotel looking over to the sea while the sun was setting, we had 4 Poofs and a Piano from the Jonathan Ross show – they had t-shirts of our faces on them and they wore kilts and they did so many funny songs including one they wrote for us.
After that we moved to another room where we were introduced to the top table by the voiceover man from the X Factor, we had a Frank Sinatra impersonator during the meal who was outstanding and then after the meal and speeches we had fireworks to music on the balcony.
Then we moved to another room in the hotel that had been made into a nightclub style room – it was black and diamante with a special LED lit bar and LED tables, stools and chairs, a stage and an amazing dance floor – it really looked like a cool nightclub. We had a special first dance to the tango which was perfect and very funny (we’d had dance lessons).
Then we had the great band “Big Vern and the Shootahs” and after that we had this fantastic motown diva singer – both were brilliant and everyone was dancing all night long. We wrapped the night up with a great DJ.
Wedding venue styling and details:
Black, White, Diamante. Lots and lots of white roses. Lots and lots of candles. Black and white chair and table covers with diamante brooches. Three different rooms were used but the black and white theme was used throughout
What did you wear?
My dress was wintery as it had a big coat as well. It was a sweetheart neckline and the bodice was like pulled silk that went in all different ways – it kinda looked painted, it went far bellow the hips then there was a different material, like shredded silk organza material, that was full.
I had a coat for the church that was of the same two materials as my dress with a diamond brooch. I also then had a shawl that was made up of the bottom of my dress (shredded organza) with a diamond brooch at the side, this was for at the meal, then I wore just my dress at the party so I had 3 looks going on. The colour was ivory.
My hair and make up were 50’s old Hollywood glamour.
Vito wore a made to measure black 3 piece suit. He is 6ft 4 and is very handsome and very Italian looking so he really pulled off the suit.
Memorable wedding day moments:
My 6 year old nephew was the best man and stood up and said the funniest, cutest and most memorable speech in front of 170 guests – everyone was laughing and it was the only time in the day that I cried, he was the best best man ever and probably the youngest!!
Wedding day advice:
Every now and again throughout the day stop and give yourself a few minutes to stop, look around and take everything in that is happening as the day goes so fast that you need to actually stop and really take in the moments.
