Hello my lovely! Have you been smiling much this morning? I hope so – and I’m going to do my very best to make you smile even more with today’s gorgeous wedding on the blog. I’m sharing Lisa and Neil’s rustic outdoor wedding from sunny Gloucestershire – and it’s just full of wonderful details and ideas – as well as the beautiful sunlight I love most of all!
I definitely think as the nights draw in it’s time for me to feature more sunny, summer weddings with you! The occasional snowy wedding is lovely… but sunshine like this just can’t be beaten! And they keep saying we’re in for a long, snowy winter – so I’m staging a little rebellion here on the English Wedding Blog from today!
I loved Lisa and Neil’s wedding from the first moment I saw it. Cotswold wedding photographer Dafydd Hughes shared their images with me – and he’s been on the English Wedding Blog before, featuring Sean and Rachel’s sunny wedding with hay bales… not only does lovely Dafydd specialise in beautiful photography, he seems to come with free sunshine! Yay! See his website at http://dafyddhughesphotography.co.uk/
Lisa’s kindly written us a wedding report so do scroll down to the end of the post for suppliers, advice and stories from the day. And leave a comment if you can! But most of all, I hope you enjoy this beautiful wedding. Have a lovely day!
The bride and groom: Lisa and Neil Ward
Wedding venue: Hyde Barn, Fosse Manor, Fosse Way, Stow-on-the-Wold – a stunning venue where we were lucky enough to get married outside under their arbour. Hyde Barn also allow you to dress the venue to your own style
Your wedding style and theme:
Rustic and a little vintage
How long did you spend planning your wedding?
Best bit of budget advice?
Use spreadsheets and look online to compare prices and be creative
Invitations and stationery:
Did you fall in love with your wedding dress?
Yes! My dress was by Justin Alexander. I found it online first and fell in love with the designer’s dresses, I couldn’t find anywhere that stocked the particular dress initially so gave up and tried others on although somehow I managed to find Angelica Bridal in Islington, London – tried it on and fell in love!
Glitz and sparkle: the bride’s accessories:
Pearl and diamond hair vine and pearl bracelet and small drop earrings
The groom wore:
Charcoal suit with cream waistcoat and cream cravat
Beautiful bridesmaids: what did your best girls wear?
Long pearl pink dresses, the elder bridesmaids wore strapless and the younger has the same but with little straps and a little higher on the chest. They were each given matching pearl necklaces on the wedding morning
Hair and make-up – did you DIY or hire a professional?
I hired the professional (was definitely needed)- Anna White, she was a perfectionist and listens, she went above and beyond on the day
Flower Craft in Hertfordshire. Truly amazing florist, everybody including the venue staff commented on the flowers, I have never seen flowers like it!
Personal reading by my Bridesmaid Emily
General styling – did your venue need much decoration?
Not much but we just made it our own with rustic bits and bobs including candles and bunting that was made specially by a friend. The flowers made it more than anything.
The table plan is of course quite a big thing and I wanted something rustic so found so old wooden step ladders on Ebay, sanded them and painted them a vintage cream and with thanks to Hobbycraft I decorated with twine, lace dolleys, small pegs and created my table plan. I also sourced little bud vases and rustic candles online
The wedding cake: traditional or quirky?
Traditional (M&S) but we made it our own with a little bunting and flowers
The best band ever, The Happy Hours/Agent Smith, they were fantasic. They integrated with the guests and made it really fun. They learnt our first dance which was truly amazing and was actually better than the original. They are based in Manchester but travel all over. They listening to what music we like and wanted. They are experts in what they do and almost too good to be a wedding band!!
