Mel and Tom’s classic English wedding with a Love Bird theme – at Nonsuch Mansion

Hey 🙂 I’m feeling very happy this morning, in a quiet and contented kind of way! It’s all thanks to today’s gorgeous bride and groom. Their wedding had a bit of a love bird theme – and to be honest I don’t think anything could suit them better!

Usually when I sit down to blog a wedding I begin by sorting through all the images the photographer sends me. I select my favourites for the blog, and others are left to one side. I couldn’t do that today. The pictures of Mel and Tom’s wedding just had me hooked from the very beginning. It’s partly down to the lovely images their wedding photographer Chris Giles sent me, and also because they’re really the most adorable couple! Just watch out for the way Tom looks at Mel and holds her on today’s wedding blog. They’re perfect together – love birds indeed!

With congratulations to the beautiful bride and her very handsome groom, and thanks for a fantastic wedding report and supplier list too! Thanks also to Chris Giles for the submission. I’d love for you to all join me now in enjoying this beautiful real wedding from Nonsuch Mansion. Have a wonderful day! Claire xxx

Wedding venue:

Nonsuch Mansion, Cheam

Wedding photographer:

Chris Giles Photography

Your wedding style and theme:

Classic English wedding with a Love Bird theme. Colours dusky pink and ivory.

How long did you spend planning your wedding?

A year and a half.

Best bit of budget advice?

Spend the most on what will last the longest.

Invitations and stationery:

Home-made with love birds in a birdcage

Did you fall in love with your wedding dress?

Yes, after A LOT of looking!

Glitz and sparkle: the bride’s accessories:

Large white flower for my hair from Glitzy secrets, simple silver and small pearl necklace and drop earrings from H.Samuels

The groom wore:

Dark grey morning tails, hired from Dapper.

Beautiful bridesmaids: what did your best girls wear?

Gorgeous strapless dusky pink dresses, bought from Francesca Bridal in Leicester.

Hair and make-up – did you DIY or hire a professional?

Hired a professional (Steph from Beauty calls), well worth the money!

Wedding flowers:

Dusky pink and Ivory theme with lots of roses and lisianthus by Nicola from Florian Florist

The ceremony:

Wedding readings were ‘On your wedding day’ and ‘Ancient Hawaiian wedding prayer’, we tailored both of these.

General styling – did your venue need much decoration?

No, Nonsuch mansion is a stunning venue and didn’t need much decorating. We had a large electronic photoframe showing pictures of us, some small floral arrangements and birdcages around.

The wedding cake: traditional or quirky?

Quite traditional. We ordered an undecorated cake from M&S and then my Aunt helped me make beautiful sugar flower decorations.

Entertainment:

We had a guitarist at the ceremony and drinks reception, then an awesome band called Saint at the wedding disco.

On the day tips and advice:

Relax and enjoy all of your hard work. Remember what the day is about, and make sure you grab a bit of time for just the two of you to enjoy it. Something will probably go wrong at some point but no one else will notice, and the amount of love you get from everyone will make you realise it just doesn’t matter.
