Vintage lace and pearls – an Isle of Wight wedding

Morning everyone! We’re half way through the week – and I’m delighted to have such lovely real weddings to share with you this week. We’re definitely full-on vintage this week with yesterday’s vintage military wedding and today’s fabulously delicate and beautiful celebration – I know you’ll love this.

Laura and Paul were married in the Isle of Wight, and their photographer was Jason Mark Harris. I adore the flowers – delicious sweet peas and peonies – and all the pretty locations at the Albert Cottage Hotel. It goes without saying that Laura looks breathtakingly beautiful and Paul is gorgeous too! Laura styled the wedding and made all of her own stationery and everything looks simply amazing – so there’s plenty of inspiration to be had here. Grab a cuppa and enjoy – this is a wonderful wedding and I’m sure you’ll love it!

The Wedding venue:

Albert Cottage Hotel, Isle of Wight

Wedding photographer:

Jason Mark Harris

How would you describe your wedding style?

Vintage Lace and Pearls

A little about the wedding ceremony:

Our ceremony was held at our local church near to where we live and we chose this church as other family members such as my husband’s Uncle and Aunty got married there in the past so the church has a lot of family history and meaning to us.

Which readings did you choose?

A Walled Garden by an unknown author and 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 – Love is Patient.

Tell us a little about your wedding venue styling and details:

Our venue was a former Royal Residence so the styling of our wedding was based around vintage and old lace.

For the dining room I had birdcages with flowers inside such as roses and hydrangeas on the tables on lace tablecloths with old, gold frames with the table names on and gold frames with black and white photographs of our grandparents next to the cake so they were there watching over the day with us.

Our cake was a simple 3 tier cake with iced lace detail on and iced roses on the top.

For the evening reception we hired a marquee and had a more relaxed theme with had lots of paper lanterns hanging down at different heights, some with lights in and a retro sweet factory for people to take some home with them and random jam jars with photos of us on holidays and festivals in and some with candles and lace tied around them.

Invitations and reception stationery:

All made by myself. For the invitations I used ivory pearlescent card and tiny pearls to add detail to the invitations and stamped gold swallows onto backing paper for a vintage look and tied them all up with dusky pink ribbon.

The table names and seating plan all matched and I used random sized shabby chic gold frames to the table names on the table and a big ornate gold frame to put the seating plan in.

I had so much fun making them all myself and had such a sense of pride on the day knowing I had made it all myself.

Wedding music and entertainment:

Switch (a local band) played covers and acoustic songs live and then our friend Leeboi was our DJ as a wedding present to us.

What did you wear?

My wedding dress was designed and custom made by Forget Me Not Bridal on the Isle of Wight and was a fitted fish tale style with chiffon over lace and pearl and beaded detail. My hair piece was a crystal and beaded style and was by the designer Jenny Packham.

Paul wore a three piece skinny grey suit from Next and simple cream rose buttonhole.

Memorable wedding day moments:

The most memorable moment was in the car on the way to our Venue from the Church, was one of the few times that day where it was just us so celebrated just getting married and drank champagne!

Recommended wedding suppliers:

Elegant wedding creations hired us a vintage post box for our wedding cards along with other bits that cut down the cost of buying for one day and Forget Me Not wedding dresses for a truly unique and made to measure dress that can be made exactly how you want it.
