It was my absolute pleasure recently to be asked by Hallmark cards to ask readers of the blog to share their suggestions for ‘alternative first dance songs’ for weddings. Being a huge fan* of Hallmark, I thought Firestarter was a good one and it subsequently made it into their top three. My point being, I’m not an expert on romantic music!
Wedding music isn’t a priority for everyone: it’s easy to concentrate on the big suppliers, the visual aspects and logistics – but choosing something extra special will make a huge difference to your day. If your taste in music doesn’t suit weddings (me!) then you have to venture outside of what you’d normally have on the stereo and find something that will suit the occasion…
… so up step Carlton Ensemble!
Fay from Carlton Ensemble gave me a call last week. She had me intrigued straight away… she has a lovely voice and posh accent, and she told me a little about the ensemble including that they can dress to match wedding theme colours. Which I thought was a lovely touch!
There are two great reasons I’m telling you about Carlton Ensemble today: I wanted to have some music on the blog – it’s too quiet here. So click play and listen to Carlton Ensemble playing in the background of Dimitri’s in Manchester. Then keep scrolling for reason two…
I then found Carlton Ensemble’s facebook page and spotted from the photos that they really do colour-match with weddings and venues! So below – photos of the group looking fabulous and matching 1) a cravat, 2) chairs 3) a really nice carpet.
I’m being a little childish, but in all seriousness Carlton Ensemble do pull out all the stops to make their performance perfect for your wedding day. They have over 70 outfits to match your colour scheme!
Not only that, but their repertoire (taken from Carlton Ensemble’s website) is really impressive:
Choose from: standard classics, ballads, opera, chart toppers, film themes, processional, Viennese, ballet, shows, relaxing classics, international folk, symphonies, UK folk, baroque, jazz standards, string quartets, Victorian/Edwardian sing-alongs, flute quintets, marches, concerti, tangos, religious, choral, nursery rhymes(?!)
For more information visit www.carltonensemble.co.uk. If you’re in the North West and interested in booking Carlton Ensemble for your wedding, you can call Fay and ask for a sample CD: 0161 428 4765 (and take my word for it, she’s lovely!)
*me? a fan of Hallmark? Not.
