Interesting. A LOT is spent on food — more surprising is how much on music and flowers.
It looks like the photography budget is still quite tiny… especially as it’s the only lasting memory!
I am surprised how little is spent on rings — the other lasting memory — we spent a fifth of our budget on lovely rings, as I know I will have to wear it for the rest of my life, and can keep enjoying it once the party is all over!
This is rather suprising, I must say!
I wouldn’t have thought that the ‘average’ spend on music would be £1,440 as a good deal of couples tend to lean towards the DJ or ‘Friend’s Band’ route!
Having said that, approximately five hours of a wedding day is spent with the couple’s choice of entertainment so they really need to be sure that they are getting what they want and, like they say, you get what you pay for!
Our Wedding Big Band bookings are up dramatically this year and, priced at around £3,500, this has proved that couples are looking for that something extra special and will pay whatever is required to get it.
How about the honeymoon amount in there?
After reading your little list, I realise we are doing quite well ourselves. With only £7,000-ish for venue + food + drink, and £1,500 for photos, and £1,000 on flowers and £750 on wedding dress…
Maybe the music calculation also includes other forms of entertainment such as magicians and silhouette artists or caricaturists like me, where the guests also get a memento of the special day.
I have to say, my own wedding was a fraction of the price quoted here, but was really special anyway — some lovely memories!
The number of guests of course swings the main costs and the day of the week the venue is booked. You can take 30% off those cost without losing out on beautiful venues with these two considerations and the elimination of over-night costs.
