Wedding Cakes for 2010

Print Friendly

As we enter the new decade it would seem that extravagant wedding cakes are fast becoming a must! Cakes are becoming taller as more tiers are added making show stopping ultra feminine designs.

Strong colour pallets from pastels to bold acid hues are in demand. It’s really just a matter of personal choice and the theme of your day.

Inspiration for cakes can often come from a bride’s chosen gown….  Vera Wang’s Spring 2010 collection features soft pastels, ribbons, pearls, blossoms and oversized statement bows.

Wedding cake type

You want your cake to look amazing but you also want it to taste amazing! Just as with colour options there are also several options when choosing the flavour of cakes.

Traditional fruit cake, decadent chocolate, zesty lemon cake or classic vanilla to name just a few.

It’s worth considering the following when choosing cake flavour(s)

• When will you be serving the cake?
• If serving as dessert will the cake go with cream/fruit?
• Do you have children attending?
• Do you want to keep a tier for after the wedding? If so this would obviously need to be fruitcake.

If you can’t decide why not have a tier in each flavour!
