Wearing a bridesmaid’s dress after the wedding
It can often be a concern that the bridesmaids may want to wear the dress again after the wedding, but don’t worry about such wearability. Consider the fact that they will probably be stood next to two or three other girls, in front of a many guests. This will probably put an end to their desire to wear the dress any time soon!
Stick to some simple points and you’re bound to have a troupe of bridesmaids who look amazing and remain within your wedding vision.
Choose your bridesmaids’ colour scheme
This is one of the most important decisions in planning your entire wedding. Pick a colour which you and your partner like, one which compliments the colour of your dress and which suits the overall theme. If you’re planning a vintage style wedding opt for subtle touches which will emphasise your look.
Personalise your bridesmaids
A great way to create individuality is to have your bridesmaids wearing different style dresses. Whether you have stuck to one uniform colour for your girls or have opted for individual coordinating shades, you have a fantastic opportunity to let your bridesmaids’ personalities shine through.
For teen bridesmaids, shorter, puffball dresses look amazing. Add a sash waistband, some killer heels (only if she’s used to them) and a loose, side-knotted bun hairstyle and you have a young, girly look.
If your bridesmaids are a little older and not keen on showing too much leg, why not opt for Tea Dress bridesmaid styles? Very classic and very 1950’s glam. Team with kitten heels, a feathered fascinator or a beautiful beaded hairpiece for uber-chic.
Older bridesmaids may prefer something longer still. If you only have older bridesmaids, why not colour-clash a variety of tones as the Sex & the City girls did? However, beware of colours which clash in a cringe-worthy style!
Choosing bridesmaids’ shoes
Metallic shoes are really hot at the moment and are bound to be huge during the Summer months. Bronze and gold strappy sandals look great on darker or olive skin tones whilst silvers look better against paler skins, but remember to match any jewellery up with the colour of shoes too.
Bling up your bridesmaids!
Accessorise, accessorise, accessorise! If you are going for a classic bridesmaid look, i.e. longer gown, hair pinned up, and scrunch bags, keep jewellery simple. Classic diamond or pearls look lovely, but maybe wear a more elaborate necklace or tiara yourself.
For more of a trend-pushing look, pick chunkier pieces, boho headbands or even Chinese style umbrellas if the sun’s beaming.
Ruffle the Roses
Lastly, if you have decided on the dresses, the hairstyles and the accessories, spend time thinking about the bridesmaids’ bouquets. They need to compliment your own, but there are many different styles available for you to choose from.
Most popular at the moment are small, hand bound arrangements which are cute and easy to carry. Keep them light, remember the bridesmaid’s job is to help you on the day, not be weighed down by a huge floral extravaganza!

If you want to add a really special point of difference, keep your bridesmaids dresses the same style, preferably a shorter dress and have them all wearing a really extravagant looking shoe. Just be sure that they can all walk properly in them!
