Debbie and Matthew’s surprise Buckinghamshire wedding

A long awaited proposal and a secret, intimate wedding are hiding in my little box of tricks for you today my lovely readers. Debbie and Matthew, and their little boy Noah, celebrated their surprise wedding in superb style — although they tell me the decor was “a bit of a mis-match”!
Their wedding photographer Natasha Thompson submitted this wedding for the blog many weeks ago, and Matthew and Debbie (I think mainly Matthew) sent their wedding report back to me this week, along with the sweetest note: “Sorry this has taken so long, we have just had a baby!” So first of all let me say a huge Congratulations to you both, and I’ll hand over to you and to Natasha with her beautiful photographs of your intimate wedding.
A warming winter wedding at The Ashes
It’s a bit spooky: the second wedding in as many weeks I’ve seen from The Ashes — a wedding venue I hadn’t heard of before. But it’s gorgeous: as we sink into autumn this wedding has all the loveliest, richest autumn colours and tones — like a virtual hot toddy in the world of wedding blogs.

The wedding day begins with this beautifully cold countryside scene — this is The Ashes wedding venue in the heart of Staffordshire, a grade two listed family home with converted barns providing the perfect secluded setting for a private wedding reception.
Daily wedding discoveries — best of the web
Wedding specialist Billy Idol’s been at it again and found this gorgeous wedding blogged over at Craig Williams Photography. I love this image most of all… there’s something very Little Red Riding Hood about it — the whole wedding shoot is fab, do check it out.

Is this really Billy Idol? Why? (clue: no)
Wedding with a touch of creativity
Sometimes everything in life comes together and a lightbulb flickers on, don’t you think? It’s happened for me — gradually — over the past month or so. I won’t bore you with details (well, I might, but in a later post) — suffice it to say that Creativity is my newest raison d’être.
I love how weddings provide everyone with an opportunity to be creative, and that those who do have their own very individual ways of realising their creativity. Lucy and James’s wedding is a beautiful, quite normal English wedding with a little twist of creativity which makes it ever so special.
Wedding digest: Andrew and Claire
I can’t resist a snowy wedding scene, and Claire’s purple dress is a gorgeously creative touch — so here’s a very quick blog post to show you the latest from Cumbria wedding photographer Chris Freer’s own blog.
I love the blanket of snow and the open landscape with the mountains behind — and Claire’s purple dress is fantastic for a winter wedding with a white backdrop! Doesn’t she look incredible.
From time to time I’ll be posting just a couple of pictures of a wedding day with creative touches I love — in this case, Claire’s dress and the snowy scenes. These posts will be filed under a new category: Wedding digest.

Chesterfield crooked spire wedding

Natalie and Richard made the most of the opportunity to have some lovely photos taken in the Chesterfield parish church
This is a rare treat, and I’m so pleased to be able to share it with you. There aren’t many weddings held at Chesterfield’s famous Parish Church of St Mary and All Saints — only three a year, so Natalie and Richard were really lucky to have this beautiful English landmark as their wedding venue. The crooked spire is known for miles around, and a cherished Derbyshire attraction. Inside the church is just as beautiful.
Chic winter wedding
This English wedding is a delightful combination of lots of subtle elements: vintage lace, gorgeous colours, festive sparkle and sophisticated details. The bride and groom are Theresa and Chris and they got married at St. Peter’s Church in Cirencester this December. Theresa’s amazing smile and all the wonderful details of the are fantastic, and I hope they’ll inspire you!
Peckforton Castle Wedding
I’ve admired Peckforton Castle from afar for many years. As a calligrapher I’ve seen and written many invitations to weddings there, and it’s one of those luxury venues I’d love to illustrate — and now, what a treat to be able to feature it on my new blog! This first real wedding photo of the ceremony room at Peckforton Castle says it all. The light flooding in from those narrow windows, the exquisite mosaic tiled floor, even the chairs are a bit special!

Snow White Wedding
It seems so long since we had all that lovely white snow across England in January, but looking at this wedding brings it all back in the most magical of ways.
Fiona and Peter were married in early January, and the gorgeous winter weather really made it a day to remember. The gorgeous wintry white of their wedding day is really beautiful. Photographer Marianne Taylor submitted their English winter wedding for the blog, and it’s such a pleasure to share it here.
English winter wedding details
Today I’m in love with Twitter for introducing me to Emily Quinton. Emily’s wedding photography is amazing and I’ve spent a happy hour or two this week gazing at her wedding photography blog!
Emily photographed this beautiful English winter wedding back in October. Bride Amelia is from New Zealand, and groom Dougie is Scottish… they met halfway and were married at Barnt Green in the West Midlands.
