The Kiwi and the knock-out bombshell! Real wedding

Wedding photographer Pete Barnes describes this (gooooorgeous!) couple in his blog post as a fantastic, really great couple who are very obviously in love. Helen and Chris were married at Sandburn Hall near York, and these are some of my favourite photos from their wedding day.

Chris originally hails from New Zealand, so in case you were wondering he’s the Kiwi I mentioned in the title, and Helen — clearly — is the knock-out bombshell (both descriptions courtesy of Pete Barnes, lovely guy and great wedding photographer)!

A winter wedding to warm your cockles and make you cry!

Beautiful bride and groom photograph

Beautiful bride and groom photograph by Anneli Marinovich

Don’t worry — you will be shedding happy tears as you read Jemma’s story about her winter wedding day. This is one of the loveliest things I’ve ever read and I was smiling and crying all the way!

Jemma did a write up for their friends and family who couldn’t be there on the day, which is such a lovely thing to do — and will make an enchanting keepsake for future generations! The text below is a collection of extracts from Jemma’s write up, just selected parts to accompany the beautiful pictures. Jemma’s an incredible writer and as this is her wedding I won’t interfere by adding my own comments — these are all Jemma’s words.

Best wedding group shots ever!

Bride and groom

A pretty magical-looking wedding photo of Nick and Carima

Nick and Carima

Nick and Carima

Damn it… I’m so excited and slightly starstruck and overwhelmed by this wedding shoot that I’m breaking all my own rules. This wedding by Tobiah Tayo is just fab. Nick and Carima’s wedding is beautiful from start to finish — and they’re soooo photogenic. Every picture has a bit of wow factor in it, from expressions and emotion to gorgeous scenery and rays of sunshine. As a consequence I’m giving up trying to narrow down how many images I post on this feature — you don’t mind, do you?

Wedding day Snap! challenge

Compare and contrast this wedding with our very English wedding from last week. What’s the same? Tell me in the comment form and win a bar of Green & Black’s!

This is a great wedding for details. The photography is by Caroline Pilling, one of my favourite wedding photographers, based in Somerset. Is it just me or do the girls have a natural skill for picking up on the little details — the wedding bouquet, stationery, etc. — that you don’t see as often with male photographers? (Prove me wrong then… answers on an email, guys!)

Peckforton Castle Wedding

Peckforton castle wedding

The ceremony at Peckforton Castle — what a stunning wedding venue!

I’ve admired Peckforton Castle from afar for many years. As a calligrapher I’ve seen and written many invitations to weddings there, and it’s one of those luxury venues I’d love to illustrate — and now, what a treat to be able to feature it on my new blog! This first real wedding photo of the ceremony room at Peckforton Castle says it all. The light flooding in from those narrow windows, the exquisite mosaic tiled floor, even the chairs are a bit special!

Garden of England Wedding

Nick and Clair were married in Kent in the summer of 2009

This English summer wedding stands out for me like a little diamond. It’s simple and sweet — the details make it, as do the smiles! Nick and Clair were married in Kent this summer, and they make a great looking couple. It’s a great wedding to share with you — I hope you like it! The photographer was Eliza Claire who is based in Kent (hence the “Garden of England” title for this feature!) — her approach to weddings is individual and you’ll love her for it! Read on…

Today I’m in love with Twitter for introducing me to Emily Quinton. Emily’s wedding photography is amazing and I’ve spent a happy hour or two this week gazing at her wedding photography blog!

Emily photographed this beautiful English winter wedding back in October. Bride Amelia is from New Zealand, and groom Dougie is Scottish… they met halfway and were married at Barnt Green in the West Midlands.
