Mini interview — Helen Carter

I’ve taken far too long to get this latest mini interview on the blog — but I think it’s worth the wait!

Helen Carter London wedding planner website

Helen Carter is a wedding planner based in London, and I discovered her when I stumbled across her website a few months back. I’ve followed her on Twitter ever since, and she’s a lovely lady with an amazing and interesting job… so I hope you enjoy her mini interview.

What inspires you?

I like the simple things in life and I take a lot of inspiration from my family. They’ve always supported me in whatever I’ve wanted to do, and I certainly wouldn’t be where I am today without my husband in particular.

Mini interview — People by Ryan

WeddingsByRyan has been on my radar for months now, and as a regular admirer of photographer Jonathan Ryan’s blog I was really happy when he volunteered for an English Wedding mini-interview! His answers are very entertaining… enjoy.

What inspires you?

Light, action, colour, drama.

I spend more time flicking through fashion magazines than looking at other wedding photographers’ work. I also get inspiration from films, TV, art.

Mini interview – Prettywild

PrettyWild have relaunched their wedding stationery website this week and I had a little peek yesterday and instantly fell in love with the place! Not only that, there’s a brand new blog — PrettyGalore — which promises of lots of exciting things to come! I got in touch with designer Suzanne Osborne for a mini interview. I love her answers…

The Bear Grylls of wedding photography!

Your entertainment for the afternoon… Nick Grove is an award winning wedding photographer based in Cambridgeshire, and here’s his mini interview. It’s a good one!

What inspires you?

Every time I hear of a bride bursting to tears after receiving their wedding photos or the disappointment in the voice of a bride’s mother. It shouldn’t be allowed. It makes my blood pressure rise when I see photographers touting themselves as professionals when it’s just something they do at the weekend. The term professional is very loosely applied in this industry. I’d like to educate couples more about the pitfalls.

Show and tell – Boho weddings

I’ve made good friends with a few wedding businesses only recently on Twitter. Kelly Hood, wedding planner at Boho Weddings and Events, is a wonderful lady and — as those of you who follow me on Twitter will probably know — has me constantly in admiration of her energy and enthusiasm for wedding planning. She’s a real expert when it comes to wedding suppliers in and around Sheffield and Yorkshire, and absolutely devoted to her wedding planning work.

So when Kelly emailed me for a chat, I pounced and asked for a mini-interview. And here it is!

Inside the mind of a wedding photographer

The best wedding supplier interview — Chris Hanley. I emailed Chris with a few questions and the answers are almost poetic. In summary, inside the mind of an expert wedding photographer is a bright, sparkly and creative place!

Show and tell – wedding calligraphy

So, about those wedding suppliers I’m here to showcase — I’m still figuring out the best way to do it. It’s about finding a balance: I’m not interested in advertising blurb, I want to know about the people behind the businesses, and I want to read interesting blog posts. So hopefully my new ‘show and tell’ mini-interview feature will become a regular thing.

I hope this doesn’t come across as all ‘me, me, me!’ but I thought I should go first. It wouldn’t be fair of me to ask other suppliers to do my little interviews if I wasn’t prepared to put any effort into this myself. And since I’m on a bit of a quest to find my blogging personality, I thought it’d be fun to have a go.
