Inspiring army wedding

Bride and groom

Simon and Katie — the perfect army wedding

I asked a little question on Twitter last week: “Who likes a man in uniform? I have a wedding I’d like to feature…?” and straight away the replies came back, all along the lines of Yes Please! and including mentions of firemen and postmen… but this wedding is a cracker, with gorgeous soldiers and a truly inspiring story behind it.

The photographs were sent to me by wedding photographer Colin Greenlees, whose connections with the Royal Anglian Regiment Benevolent Charity led him to Simon and Katie as they planned their wedding. Simon had been seriously injured in Afghanistan and had undergone intensive treatment back in the UK since his return home.

Choosing a wedding photographer

As I’ve just blogged Andrew and Anne’s Tylney Hall wedding by Greenlees Photography, I thought it would be a good opportunity to share some advice about choosing a wedding photographer.

Colin Greenlees is an excellent wedding photographer, member of the International Society of Professional Wedding Photographers (there are only around 30 members in the UK) and loves working with brides and grooms to capture their wedding memories so beautifully.

If you haven’t yet chosen your wedding photographer, do read the advice on Colin’s website before you do. It’s written to help brides and grooms across the country, you don’t have to be in the Hertfordshire area or considering Greenlees Photography for your wedding — this is valid advice wherever you are.

Tylney Hall wedding

bride and groom

Anne and Andrew in the grounds of Tylney Hall

This beautiful wedding with a red theme is from Greenlees Photography. Anne and Andrew married in May at Tylney Hall in Hampshire.

The photos struck me for two reasons — the red theme with pink accents works beautifully, I love a wedding full of colour. Anne’s bouquet had red and pink roses, and her bridesmaids’ bouquets were pink gerberas, which look stunning against the red bridesmaid dresses. More importantly, Anne is amazing and her smile and the way she laughs makes these pictures a delight to look at! As for Andrew, he looks so very proud of his gorgeous bride.

Emerald Isle wedding

What setting could be more romantic than Ireland for a wedding? With lovely castles, a rich history and a famously warm welcome, this Irish wedding looks like a real treat.

Capturing the spirit of a wonderful wedding day in Ireland

I loved this wedding instantly when I stumbled across it on the wedding photography website and blog of Greenlees Photography. Based in Hertfordshire, wedding photographer Colin Greenlees was lucky enough to be invited over to Ireland to shoot Jo & David’s wedding in May.

Crondon Park wedding

I love these wedding photographs from Mel and Dan’s English wedding in Essex, at Crondon Park Golf & Country Club. The bride and groom live in Australia, and as Dan is originally from England, they decided to have their wedding here. I’m glad they did! (or I’d have to start a whole new Australian Wedding blog to feature this!)

Mel's wedding shoes

I love the backdrop for this picture — and the shoes are perfect.

Mel’s wedding shoes are lovely, with simple double bows on the open toe, and cute little heels. I love the frame of the mirror behind the shoes on the mantelpiece as well, it adds a lovely texture and rich colour to the photograph.
