A warming winter wedding at The Ashes

It’s a bit spooky: the second wedding in as many weeks I’ve seen from The Ashes — a wedding venue I hadn’t heard of before. But it’s gorgeous: as we sink into autumn this wedding has all the loveliest, richest autumn colours and tones — like a virtual hot toddy in the world of wedding blogs.

The wedding day begins with this beautifully cold countryside scene — this is The Ashes wedding venue in the heart of Staffordshire, a grade two listed family home with converted barns providing the perfect secluded setting for a private wedding reception.

Wedding with a touch of creativity

I LOVE this photograph - Lucy looks regal and out-of-this-world beautiful

I LOVE this photograph — Lucy looks regal and out-of-this-world beautiful

Sometimes everything in life comes together and a lightbulb flickers on, don’t you think? It’s happened for me — gradually — over the past month or so. I won’t bore you with details (well, I might, but in a later post) — suffice it to say that Creativity is my newest raison d’être.

I love how weddings provide everyone with an opportunity to be creative, and that those who do have their own very individual ways of realising their creativity. Lucy and James’s wedding is a beautiful, quite normal English wedding with a little twist of creativity which makes it ever so special.

English autumn wedding

A favourite photograph of Liz and Jon, so much in love.

A favourite photograph of Liz and Jon, so much in love.

The first engagement shoot I ever featured on English Wedding was of Liz and Jon — a Cheshire bride– and groom-to-be whose lovely photos had me completely hooked.

Two months have absolutely flown by, and I can now very happily blog Liz and Jon’s wedding day for you. This couple wear their hearts on their sleeves — so the photos might just bring a tear to your eye. They did for me!

Stunning red wedding

It’s definitely time for something a little bit different… a real wedding feature with a red wedding dress anyone? Oh, yes please — this is absolutely gorgeous.

red maggie sottero wedding dress

Gemma’s red wedding dress is by Maggie Sottero — it’s stunning.

The wedding dress is Fiorenza, by Maggie Sottero. Fiorenza is a rich scarlet gown, with soft ruching at the side and fabric flowers scattered around the A line skirt, catching up the fabric in a fabulous tumble of luxury. In each cluster of flowers is a little spray of beads and Swarovski crystals. I believe with all my heart that if you’re getting married, you really should wear this dress… like Gemma did…

Colourful Castle Wedding

Bride and groom

Lesley and Amir are a stunning couple — and their wedding photos are a treat!

I was in the mood for something bright and cheerful when I found this wedding on Andi Goodman’s wedding photography site — and it’s just a feast of colours and textures — a stunner! Not only that, the bride and groom are so very gorgeous, I had to feature this! Enjoy…

Sunrise at Bovey Castle

Bovey Castle is a thrilling wedding venue with dramatic scenery

Andi was at the venue early in the morning to see this gorgeous sunrise on the day of Amir and Lesley’s wedding. A great start to what turns out to be a beautiful October day.
