The Future of Vintage: Get the Look!
So you’ve seen The Future of Vintage, and it’s bright! Like it? Then here’s the English Wedding blog’s guide to getting the look! All images are by the wonderful Jonny Draper.
Decorate your wedding venue in brights, but keep sight of the prettiness of vintage: use paper lanterns in a few bright shades, and add splashes of colour with chair cover sashes and table decorations. Fairy lights always look fabulous (especially as day turns into evening).

A few sneak peaks..
I’ve been a busy bee this week so unfortunately this isn’t a long blog post.. Just a few tantalising tidbits to keep you going until I get more organised!
Sneak preview — The Future of Vintage
Vintage weddings… pastels and lace, details and delicates, chintzy and chic. As much as we love the vintage wedding theme, we can’t help looking to the future and seeing what will come out of the vintage wedding trend.
Tomorrow on the English Wedding blog — at midday exactly! — we bring you an exclusive bridal shoot from Styal Lodge. With bridal designer Charlotte Balbier, The White Closet bridal boutique and photographer Jonny Draper — and many more — this is an unmissable wedding photoshoot for vintage-loving brides and grooms.
Retro milk bottles, too many vases and creepy clay mementoes
I’d been keeping a secret from my husband-to-be.. It’s not terrible but it’s become a little out of hand. I think I’ve become a little over exuberant (possibly harbouring a slight addiction) to buying vases. I’ve been envisaging this sort of look for the reception tables:
The Monday Makerie
I’m splitting today’s Monday Makerie into two parts. Find gorgeous things handmade for you, from Etsy and further afield. And for those of you feeling crafty out there, I’ve also listed my favourite things from the web this week where you can get your fingers gluey and cover yourself in paper and paint and glitter and suchlike. Go play!
Handmade wedding inspiration
It doesn’t get much cuter than these wedding cake topper penguins. From Kikuike on Etsy- Loads of ideas from NOTHS (notonthehighstreet.com) via Rock My Wedding blog — love these personalised jewellery pieces best of all
Keep Calm and Drink Tea
David and I have always enjoyed about 5 cups of tea a day (give or take depending on what kid of day it is!), and have my own nice little collection of vintage tea cups and pots, so when I heard there was a real teahouse opening in Middlesbrough I was one of the first ones through the door! I knew Carli, who owns and runs The Olde Young Teahouse, as she is David’s friend’s girlfriend, and we found ourselves visiting her shop to try as many of her different teas as possible.
Monday Makerie: easy moroccan inspired lanterns and more…
This week’s Monday Makerie is dedicated to I Am Staggered. Hello fellas!
This week I want to share ideas for all of you creatively minded brides– and grooms-to-be. Whether you want to make your own wedding crafty bits or buy handmade treats for your wedding, you’ll find something to inspire you here!
Table decorations, wedding favours, or just something to make on a dull Monday: Moroccan inspired mini lanterns from Design Sponge
Aren’t they gorgeous? There’s a full how-to blog post over at Design Sponge, and they’re easy to make from sauce or jam jars — it’s just glass paint on the inside and gold paint on the outside (the stuff you get in a little tube that’s quite chunky).

Dried hydrangea and getting experimental!
This is just a short post because of an accidental discovery! I’ve been in the back garden spray painting the inside of jars with a cream paint to create a ‘milky’ effect (when they’re done there’ll be a post on this!), and for no real reason decided to be experimental, and sprayed the hydrangea plant next to me, which had dried out and started shedding its whole, ball-like flower heads.

Let Them Eat Cake
One thing David and I just hadn’t considered was a wedding cake, neither of us were too bothered, the cake shops around us seemed to charge too much for too little, and we thought we’d rather spend a few hundred pounds on extra bottles of wine or asking the band to play a while longer!
