You mean the world to me… Harlaxton Manor wedding part one

wedding photo by Beautiful Life Photography (21)When something new drops into my lap like this, it makes my world a more exciting place. Today’s wedding is one which has me (virtually) gazing skyward, admiring the gorgeous English church in glorious detail, and smiling very, very happily in the direction of Alex and James.

This is a two-parter: today I’m sharing the pre-wedding photographs (spot the cat-mat and admire those fabulous stained-glass windows!). Tomorrow we’ll head to Harlaxton Manor for a game of croquet with the bride and groom, shall we? Photography is by Beautiful Life Photography (click for the official website).

Little butterflies and Big Love! a wedding

documentary wedding photography (36)

Be ready to catch yourself smiling — gazing at your screen with a bit of a romantic grin on your face. Whether you’re in the office pretending to work, or maybe at home in your pyjamas all wrapped up for Christmas… I’m going to stop you in your tracks with this beautiful wedding story. Down with your pens, sellotape, gin and sparklers ladies –because this wedding’s a gem.

Gail and Mark’s Tythe Barn wedding was submitted by wedding photographer Martin Beddall. Gail wrote a short wedding report to go along with the pictures, and I’m going to leave the wedding photographs to tell their own story. Because they do — all on their own.

The runaway veil and the wedding photographer

real wedding in Yorkshire (5)

At a real wedding, scary things can happen. Picture the scene: having your picture taken outdoors, a gust of wind and… off flies your veil. Over a barbed wire fence, or so I’ve heard. Who’d have expected intrepid Yorkshire wedding photographer Pete Barnes to follow, risking life, limb and trouser-safety in a daring dash to the rescue.

Our knight in shining armour submitted Anna and Fraser’s beautiful wedding to my blog. I don’t think he mentioned his little adventure in his emails! Wonderful what a bit of wedding-blogger-research turns up. Also of note are Anna’s adorable flower garland — I want one — her stunning smile and the romance that fizzles between the happy couple.

The flying bride — real wedding blog

Wedding blog photo (9)

Another real wedding, and this time I bring you: a beautiful bride who can fly. It’s a gorgeous wedding shot by Kat Forsyth, who shot Bianca and Michael’s wedding in Avianto in August. Kat is a sponsor of English Wedding blog — she’s been photographing weddings in South Africa and is coming to live in London from January. All I can say is, get in touch quickly if you’d like Kat to photograph your big day!

Wedding blog photo (5)

The flying bride title comes from a comment the lovely Anneli Marinovich left on Kat’s wedding photography blog. And I have to add, it’s not just Bianca who gets airborne: Michael can jump pretty damn high!

Glamour, flamingos and inspiration

Kensington Roof Gardens wedding blog (1)

Sometimes a blog post can be full to the brim with exciting things. Today, clearly by the title, there’s a lot to cover — and I love this wedding to bits. Wendy Bell is a designer so her wedding was bound to be creative; but every little thing from her glamorous dress to the venue and table decorations is really stunning — and right up my street.

Wendy is stunning (and James is a looker too!) — and I’m sure some of you English Wedding readers will feel inspired by their style… if you’re into looking gorgeous without being princessy, then this is the wedding blog for you.

What a wonderful thing love is…

Lauren and Pat’s Wedding Highlights from Love Gets Sweeter on Vimeo.

A little something special for today — 3:44 minutes of romance with Lauren* and Pat’s lovely wedding feature film from Love Gets Sweeter. I love blogging wedding films like this — it’s wonderful to sit back, turn my speakers up, grab a biscuit (just to hold) and smile, giggle and cry a bit along with the movie!

Highlights of this wedding film for me (and for you to watch out for):

  • Hubert the dog is so cuddleable
  • the boys cycling their way around London (a bit wibbly)

A Scottish wedding in a fairytale church

wedding blog photo credit Clare West (29)

Today’s wedding on the blog is very much a story, told through beautiful pictures and with a wonderful focus on the wedding guests, and on fleeting moments in time.

Emma and Justin were married on the edge of a Scottish Loch — Loch Awe, near Oban. Their wedding day incorporated little touches of true individuality: a bit of Bob Marley in church; African fabric for the guys’ waistcoats alongside kilts and a Cèilidh for the evening reception.

Because shoes are the most important…

Photo credit James P. Lester Photography (1)

Clare and Jon’s wedding at Leeds Corn Exchange was planned around shoes. Because Clare had her heart set on the most amazing Christian Louboutin hyper prive heels — a special treat for the best day of her life! As Clare told me, “the rest of the wedding had to fit around them!”

Photo credit James P. Lester Photography (2)

This real wedding blog is of course about far more than a pair of Christian Louboutins. It’s a family focused wedding day full of laughter and smiles, with a wedding day story from a bride who has the prettiest giggle and the most sensual smile I’ve seen! Clare and Jon are a perfect match. Their day was a relaxed, fun celebration in an incredible venue, and I have some fabulous photos to share with you today.

Romance, tears, kilts and sunsets

Neil Wedding Video– Heaton House Farm Cheshire from silk wedding videos on Vimeo.

This gorgeous wedding film by Silk Wedding Videos needs very little introduction. A beautiful bride in a ruffled wedding dress; her gorgeous (and tearful) groom in kilt and sporren; an idyllic Cheshire location and about as loved up as a wedding video can be.

Wedding video highlights:

  • the adorable bridesmaid watching preparations in the morning
  • tears from the groom and his heartwarming vows
  • a lovely Scottish accent and bagpipers to go with it!
  • dogs in collars made of roses. Eat your heart out Tamara!

Croquet on the lawn? There’s an English Wedding!

wedding blog Anneli Marinovich (28)

Emma and Richard’s wedding at Homme House is a real treat: it couldn’t be more English Wedding–y if we were all sitting here drinking Earl Grey and munching on scones while reading this blog post and waving union jacks*. I loved it the minute I saw this wedding on Anneli Marinovich’s wedding photography blog. Wedding day croquet on the lawn? Yes please!

wedding blog Anneli Marinovich (34)

Emma is absolutely beautiful, and Anneli captures her radiance so well in these pictures. There are many more I couldn’t fit on the blog post so I’ll urge you all to look at Anneli’s wedding blog post at the end! For now, enjoy my favourite photos from this quintessentially English wedding day.
