A real wedding from Monkey Island

Tucked away in a luscious landscape, accessible only by boat or footbridge and on its own private island on the River Thames, Monkey Island is pretty unique as far as English wedding venues go.
It’s a secluded hideaway, elegant and (I love this:) ancestral home to monks rather than monkeys — Monkey Island was the perfect backdrop for Max and Marina’s wedding day.
We begin the day in the bridal suite with Marina getting ready for the ceremony — it’s a lovely outdoor wedding with peacocks roaming around the grounds! and the day unfolds with so many glorious moments between the bride, groom and their wedding guests.
Debbie and Matthew’s surprise Buckinghamshire wedding

A long awaited proposal and a secret, intimate wedding are hiding in my little box of tricks for you today my lovely readers. Debbie and Matthew, and their little boy Noah, celebrated their surprise wedding in superb style — although they tell me the decor was “a bit of a mis-match”!
Their wedding photographer Natasha Thompson submitted this wedding for the blog many weeks ago, and Matthew and Debbie (I think mainly Matthew) sent their wedding report back to me this week, along with the sweetest note: “Sorry this has taken so long, we have just had a baby!” So first of all let me say a huge Congratulations to you both, and I’ll hand over to you and to Natasha with her beautiful photographs of your intimate wedding.
A musical English wedding at Buxted Park
Matthew and Alyson’s wedding is elegance itself: with a musical flavour lending personality to the day and beauty and simplicity styling their celebrations. Alyson’s wedding dress by Suzanne Neville has a dreamy nostalgia and the 1940s style of her dress and headdress influenced the theme of today’s wedding blog.
The wedding colours are purest whites; the wedding venue is divine; the weather for this November wedding day was bright, and crisp — the perfect day for a wedding.
Photography is by Sussex wedding photographer Sara Reeve, and Alyson has written the loveliest wedding report to share with us all today. Enjoy!

An island wedding in Yorkshire
Helen and Rich chose a venue with a difference for their Yorkshire wedding: the Waterton Park Hotel sits on its own island within a nature reserve, near Wakefield. Helen’s Ian Stuart wedding dress is fabulous — she found it in a local bridal store for half price — and looks a dream in softly sparkling gold with French lace and pearls…
This wedding was sent in by Nicky Chadwick Photography. Nicky’s a friend of English Wedding blog, a regular contributor on my facebook page and a lovely lady whose comments always make me smile. Helen was kind enough to write a great wedding report — she’d worked hard to make their wedding day very personal, making her own bouquet and having it preserved as a very special memory of the wedding.
I don’t think either of us could stop smiling all day!
The title of this blog post sums up Anna and Mike’s wedding day in Manchester last summer: their smiles as they walk along the canal path are bursting full of happiness — and I love Anna’s words in her wedding report: “In every photo I am smiling – I don’t think either of us could stop!”.
I always love a bride who wears her glasses with pride too, and I think Anna looks amazing. There’s everything here: a wonderful story, some fabulous ideas and details, and of course the lovely photos by Manchester’s McAvoy Photography.
Try not to break your foot 6 weeks before your wedding
so says today’s gorgeous bride on the English Wedding blog. Fiona had her cast taken off just a few days before the big day — but it didn’t spoil a wonderful wedding day as she married the (also gorgeous!) Toby in London.
So it was bye, bye Jimmy Choos and hello adorable ballet pumps for this bride! Fiona’s wedding report tells a wonderful story — there are certainly tears but the wedding ends in triumph and celebration… in a Covent Garden nightclub!
We won our wedding — but not all went to plan
The very beautiful Vicky and Matt won their wedding day at a Yorkshire wedding fair. They hadn’t planned to get married so quickly, but couldn’t turn down such an amazing opportunity and changed all their plans to bring the wedding forward to November 2011.
Wedding photographer Richard Wynn-Davies got in touch to tell me their story. He explained, “the organisers [of a regional UK wedding show] promoted a competition dubbed “The Royal Wedding” where they asked for wedding suppliers from each main category to provide their services to one couple for free in return for tons of great PR. We decided to put ourselves forward as the photographers. The winners were Vicky & Matt, an adorable couple.

A wedding, a carnival and a cast of thousands! part one
Angela and Adam chose the busiest day in Chester’s calendar for their wedding — but it’s a day they’ll never forget, giant papier-mache people and all!
The Chester Grosvenor pulled out all the stops to make sure the bride and groom, their horse and carriage and the open-top bus could navigate the (otherwise closed!) roads to the hotel amidst the carnival crowds — and it makes for a spectacular wedding blog post — or two!…
I’ll share this in two parts — with words by Angela and photos by Chester wedding photographers CG Weddings. Enjoy!
A glamorous wedding in Hampshire

This morning my little typing fingers have been sat quietly — I was stuck! Where to start with this gorgeous Hampshire wedding day… the breathtaking wedding photography by Elton Mogg (staircase… flowers…) or beautiful bride Hayley (swirling around in her dress with all the bridesmaids — magic!) — the elegance of the wedding venue (Rivervale Barn) or maybe the wedding dress itself (a wonderfully girly, swishy beautiful Sassi Holford gown).
Beckie Gregory — the lovely lady behind Temple Gregory wedding planners in London and Hampshire — showed me some of the photos from Hayley and David’s wedding late last year — and I loved them. This is like supreme glamour in weddings: the most exquisite, luxurious, beautiful everything you can see on a wedding blog.
