Once upon a time…
A girl lived with her mother on the outskirts of a smoky city. The girl was beautiful: she had a gentle smile and kind eyes with a little laughter behind them. Her hair was the colour of sunshine and she wore red. She loved red. She always wore red.
The beautiful girl was in love. She was looking forward to seeing her beloved for a special date, so she decided to take a short cut through the forest to meet him. Smiling as she plucked her favourite cape from by the door – for she loved to be noticed – the beautiful girl stepped outside. Heads turned.
Is it really ok to be different?
A bit of a funny blog post perhaps, and self indulgent too. The Royal Wedding passed me by last week (I like weddings; I’m not a fan of royalty) and I feel at times I’m watching from the sidelines as the biggest UK wedding bloggers are teaming up with wedding magazines for various projects. (I’m not a fan of the wedding press either, and haven’t made any secret of that on this blog.)
Does this mean English Wedding is missing the mark? Not right for a particular audience? Or is there a different audience for this blog instead? Should I try harder to be like the other blogs, or stick to my guns?
A few sneak peaks..
I’ve been a busy bee this week so unfortunately this isn’t a long blog post.. Just a few tantalising tidbits to keep you going until I get more organised!
Happy Easter from English Wedding!
Hello everyone!
I hope you’re all enjoying the lovely sunshine and — while it’s so nice outside — maybe even taking a break from wedding planning, enjoying a bit of couple time and days out.
An executive decision has been made at English Wedding Towers (haha) to have the weekend off. But don’t worry — I’ll be sneak previewing something very exciting on Monday lunchtime, and we’ll be back with a huge splash to reveal ‘The Future of Vintage’ on Tuesday at midday.
Now, where’s my chocolate… yum.
Children and Weddings..
The big debate: children and weddings. Some think a wedding wouldn’t have the atmosphere without them, and others couldn’t think of anything worse than having a swarm of children ‘aeroplaning’ all over the dance floor. I think I’m somewhere in between..

Daily wedding inspiration
This is more about love than weddings (but then, weddings should also be more about love than about weddings, shouldn’t they! So it works nicely).
A lovely post on Alex Beadon’s wedding photography blog: I dare you to make a stranger smile. I plan to. I even have a favourite tree in mind for my note.

Royal Wedding Hilarity — feeling crafty?
There aren’t words for this one so I’ll just show you the pics and leave you to giggle. Thanks to my dad for finding the first two, and to Amazon for suggesting I might like to buy the third.
A very special edition of Wednesday Writes
Royal Wedding inspired literature…
Comments welcome. I’m lost for words! Loving the imagination behind every one of these though.
Saving and sharing the wedding planning images you love!
I love the concept behind Pinterest. It’s a bit new, but anything bright and shiny and ambitious makes me smile.
For brides and grooms planning a wedding, it’s a fantastic idea. Browse the web, spot an image you love, bang a pin in it. It’ll appear on your pin board at Pinterest. Such an easy way to save all the ideas you find and love, and to share them with your friends and on wedding forums and stuff.
Thanks to Farrell & Chase for their blog post where I found Pinterest.
The wedding press: how lovely it would be to share…
I’ve just had an email from Brides Magazine about a special issue where they’ll be showcasing the very best in wedding stationery and calligraphy. They seemed very keen for me to advertise…
It almost had me tempted — only it got my back up a little. The email — not exclusively to me of course, but to all the calligraphers they could find — had FAR TOO MANY CAPITAL LETTERS and A LOT OF BOLD in it. As persuasive techniques go, that one won’t work on me in a million years!
