S&D… The Wedding

Hello again English Wedding!

I know, I know it’s been far too long! It’s been a mad rush since the wedding, David’s gone back to his third year at uni and I’ve just started my masters, we both now spend most days running around like headless chickens trying to keep up!

It seems like the wedding was yesterday, but also like we’ve always been husband and wife — it’s a lovely feeling. If I’ve not left it too late and you’re all still interested.. here’s how our wedding went.

S&D’s wedding.. The Preparations!

After a bit of thought I’ve decided to follow in the footsteps of lovely Salma and break down our wedding day into sections to show our day properly, and where better to begin than the preparations before the day itself.

I felt it only right to give the preparations a full post as so many people helped out and it was such a hard slog in the few days before the wedding, everyone was so happy but so stressed thinking of what needed to be done, and for the majority of the time we were all running around like headless chickens!

My First Post as a WIFE!

It seems like I’ve been away for ages when in fact it’s only been a few weeks! I have so much to tell you about mine and David’s day but I think I’ll save it until our official photographs come back in the next week or so. I can’t wait!

Final updates and my last post.

I can’t believe this is my last post, it seems like a week or so ago when I found out I was going to be a ‘Star Bride’ and now all our wedding preparations are done and it’s the countdown to the day! 8 days to go!!

A lot has been going on in the past few weeks to get everything ready, Mum and Dad have been working hard on the house and I’ve been tying up a lot of loose ends at this end. Here are a few things that are finished and ticked off the list, and a few things that have been happening in the ‘run up’:

A handful of updates..

Right, everything is getting quite (very) busy! I wrote a to-do list off the top of my head and it had around 50 things on it… with only 28 days left AND I’m working full time. Help!

Anyway, here are a handful of new things to share, in no particular order..

Something I’ve been quite excited to share, my guestbook idea! I saw the idea of guestbook cards to fill in on a site somewhere ages ago (don’t ask where I’ll never be able to remember!), and messed around on Illustrator and came up with these instead of a traditional guestbook. We’ll leave them out with a jam jar of pens, ask people to fill them in before leaving them in a vintage suitcase. After the wedding I’ll put them into a scrapbook making a keepsake of our day, hopefully we’ll get some interesting entries!

DIY Musical Vinyl Table Names

On a whim I bought 10 7″ vinyls from eBay this week for the bargainous price of 99p with the view of somehow turning them into table names. I’ve always wanted names above simple table numbers as I thought we could turn names into another personal touch. After much discussion we decided to use songs which are relevant to us, and have marked a moment in our relationship, for instance “In the morning” by Razorlight as it as the first song we danced to the night we met, and “Dreams” by The Cranberries as it was played the night we got engaged.

Poules en Paris!

Well we all came back from Paris on Sunday and I’m still a little tired today! (And a little hungover yesterday aswell to be honest, 2 day-ers are the worst) I’d just like to say first a massive thank you to all my lovely hens who made it a trip I’ll never forget, I really appreciate all the effort you all made to come and celebrate with me.

Wedding Day Jewellery

As I’ve said before, I’m a complete sucker for sentiment. Every day I wear my engagement ring, my mum’s silver ring that she bought when she was a girl, the ring David bought me for my 21st, and the earrings he bought me from Italy. Until it recently broke, I also used to wear my great grandmother’s ring that she brought back from Russia for my grandma (who said it was hideous, which is why I have it!). None of them ‘go’, they are all different metals, stones, styles… but I have to wear all of them on my wedding day! The way I see it is I am wearing a piece of jewellery from each corner of my family, and the sentiment means so much more than having everything ‘matchy-matchy’.

Pre and Post Wedding Shoot

After my quandry about whether or not to have an engagement shoot, still somewhat undecided, we took the plunge and booked a session with the fabulous Matt Ethan (featured here on English-Wedding not so long ago). Matt’s photographs are everything I hope mine will be one day: effortless, beautiful, simple and reportage with a slight film-style twist.

Wedding Vases pt 2

Just a short post and yet again it’s on the subject of vases! I bought a pack of 12 vases which you can buy from Ikea, eBay, Wilkinsons etc, you’ll recognise the shape no doubt, and I mainly bought them for back up in case we needed a few extra for the wedding (little did I know I’d end up with as many as I did!) I refound them a week or so ago, and felt it a waste not to use them, and had been to a haberdashery shop that day buying a ton of lace in cream, coffee, pink and blue.
