Our wedding — the day in pictures

I can’t believe that it’s already been a month since the wedding. Time really has flown – our honeymoon seemed to flash by in the blink of an eye, and we’ve settled into married life so easily that it feels things were always this way (in a good way, of course!). I’ve not experienced the post-wedding blues that so many people talk about – we had our special day and yes, it’s over, but now we’re embarking on an even more exciting stage of our lives.

Happy Hens

The wedding is on Friday (can’t believe it’s nearly here!) so I must keep this brief – I’ve got orders of service to tie together and a house to clean before we go on honeymoon. I just thought I’d share with you some pictures of my very special hen day, organised by Maid of Honour extraordinaire Alexandra. Alexandra and I have been best friends for 19 years, and she really pulled out all the stops for an amazing day.

1 Month To Go — Dress Sneak Peek

Just a short post, as we’re off shortly to try to find Paul an outfit. Like me, he doesn’t want to wear something desperately traditional – he’s thinking either an interesting jacket and trousers (as opposed to a matching suit) or a waistcoat without a jacket. We shall have to see what Bluewater has along those lines…

My bridesmaids have all been sending me pictures of the dresses they will be wearing (I let them choose). It’s safe to say they are all going to look fantastic. So far there will be two bridesmaids in green, one in red, one in blue and one in black (there are still three whose dresses I’ve not seen yet). It’s going to be fabulously colourful, and I think the dresses will look great with the oriental fans that I gave the girls instead of bouquets.

6 Weeks To Go!

With just six weeks to go, the wedding seems to have rolled around pretty quickly. We planned a fairly short engagement (we got engaged in April, wedding is in September) but it still seems to have gone super fast and I really need to get my act together as there are still lots of things left to do! We need to find Paul something to wear, sort our rings, meet with the registrars, find me some lingerie, finish making the orders of service, organise the music…the list goes on. Unfortunately I’ve been feeling pretty ill recently, which is why there’s still quite so much left unsorted (I’m not usually that disorganised, honest!). I’m also very worried about feeling ill on the day itself, but there’s not much I can do about that except keep a positive attitude, so that’s what I’m going to try and do.

It’s The Little Things That Count

I’ve not been feeling too well recently, which means wedding planning has slightly been put on the back burner. It’s only two months to go now, but due to our fairly laid back approach and all my mum’s help there’s not actually that much left to do. (Although having said that, Paul doesn’t yet have anything to wear on the day and we haven’t sorted our rings. But that’s what July and August are for).

Eat, Drink And Be Merry

Food and drink usually play a huge role in a wedding reception, particularly if the bride and groom are anything like me and Paul. However, not everyone wants to go down the traditional route of a three course meal and tiered cake. Below are some of the food and drink ideas we are incorporating into our wedding celebrations in September. It’s making my mouth water just thinking about them…

Accessorising For The Big Day

The first thing most newly engaged women think about (after the romance of the proposal has had time to sink in, of course) is the dress. If you are anything like me, you’ll have been imagining wearing a wedding dress since you were a young girl, and the likelihood is you already have an idea in mind of the sort of thing you are after. Accessories, however, are a whole different ball game. Most little girls dreaming of marrying their prince don’t pay much attention to what shoes they are going to wear, or what jewellery to match to their dress. It can therefore be a bit daunting when you realise that you have the dress of your dreams but have absolutely no idea what to put with it. After some careful consideration, here’s what I’ve ended up choosing to accessorize my vintage 1970s maxi dress with on the big day:
