The star of The Show: Hanging beneath the centrepiece were little glass globes with twists of pearl strands, heart embellishments and cream baubles
The Wedding Show at Tatton is known for having the north west’s top wedding experts as exhibitors. Nothing should have surprised me, and there were many exquisite stands which caught my attention straight away. But none were quite like Red Floral Architecture, which completely captured my imagination — I could have stayed admiring the stand for hours!
I had a lovely chat with creative flower designer Mat Hepplestone. I was probably quite embarrassing… but I had to explain just how much I loved what he’d done with his stand! There are flowers, there are wedding flowers, and there’s floral design with a difference. “Floral Architecture” sounds pretty grand — pretty ambitious I suppose. But the title fits Mat’s creations — and then some!!! Mat designs with flowers the way a top architect would design a cathedral: there are no limits to his imagination.

Red Floral Architecture — the centrepiece of the most exquisite stand at The Wedding Show at Tatton really has to be seen to be believed.

Red Floral Architecture: exquisite columns of flowers, pearls and diamonds in yellows and golds

Red Floral Architecture’s perfect vintage bouquet with roses and silvery grey foliage, vintage brooches, feathers and pearl detailing

Red Floral Architecture wedding table plan — lace and buttons, crystal brooches and fabrics all combine to make vintage a real statement

A vintage suitcase opens to reveal the wedding table plan, with glorious bouquets, vases and photo frames all around

Every detail, every flower by Red Floral Architecture was perfect. I love the pastel yellows and gently trailing pearls and lace

Details from the stand: a wedding cake loaded with beautiful yellow roses in all shapes and sizes, and a statement bouquet in yellow and white with gorgeous spiky detailing

Beautiful luxury wedding cake with pale yellow roses by Red Floral Architecture. The ease with which they create beautiful luxury like this as well as startlingly challenging designs you’d expect to see on Vivienne Westwood’s own mantlepiece just blew me away

Another wedding table plan with a fabulous twist: I said to Mat that this design was very “Rock n Roll Bride” and he grinned like a Cheshire cat.

Red Floral Architecture created the display in the entrance way to The Wedding Show — another stunning statement piece. Imagine this at your venue!
Whether you can afford the very very best, or whether you’re looking for inspiration for your own wedding flowers — what Mat and Red Floral Architecture can teach us all is that the sky’s the limit… in fact there is no limit. Let your imagination run away with you and go play with your dreams.
Mat is interviewed in the current issue of Cheshire Bride magazine (if you didn’t get a free copy at The Wedding Show it’s available in shops in the north west) and showcases his stunning floral creations at www.redfloral.co.uk and on the Red Floral Architecture facebook group.
I was delighted to see on facebook that I recognised some of Mat’s floral design from one of my favourite blogs! If you’d like to see — and I think you should have a peek! — just feast your eyes on this gorgeous fashion shoot at Thornton Manor. Enjoy!
