A wedding to inspire and remember

I’m very much in awe of wed­ding pho­tog­ra­pher Katy Lunsford right now. I spot­ted Sarah and Dan’s wed­ding on Katy’s blog and the beauty of it all — from the colours to the blog itself to bride Sarah — took my breath away.

So I had to give this blog post — which I’m actu­ally feel­ing really hon­oured to be fea­tur­ing on Eng­lish Wed­ding — a great title. I got stuck: could I name it after the gor­geous reds and pur­ples, or after Sarah’s incred­i­ble dress, or should I focus on the beau­ti­fully dec­o­rated church and reli­gion or on pho­tog­ra­pher Katy’s tal­ent for writ­ing the per­fect blog feature?

In the end I went with the feel­ings this wed­ding evokes for me. The over­whelm­ing beauty of it all, from the emo­tions and moments cap­tured in the pho­tographs to the details that read­ers of my blog and Katy’s might love, and take away, and recre­ate for your own wed­dings. In a word, this is an unfor­get­table wed­ding. Be pre­pared to have your socks blown off. Both of them.

A wed­ding to inspire and remember

Katy sets the scene beau­ti­fully with pho­tog­ra­phy of Sarah’s incred­i­ble wed­ding dress, the bridal shoes from Choola, the veil — from Bliss­ful Daze in Sheffield — draped from the stair­case and the gor­geous colours from stained glass win­dows at the fam­ily home.

The bridal preparations

All the girls had their hair done by the very tal­ented team at Bliss in Heaton Moor, Stock­port
Sarah dons the dress and instantly becomes The Bride: an incred­i­ble trans­for­ma­tion from being a beau­ti­ful girl to a really stun­ning princess. The dress is “Reese”, by Mag­gie Sot­tero with an incred­i­ble beaded neck­line and glam­orous bead and crys­tal encrusted hal­ter­neck.



I love Sarah’s smoky eyes and classy pearls — and most of all her nose stud. Absolutely stun­ning and just per­fectly indi­vid­ual — a free spirit and a gor­geous bride.

A won­der­ful church wed­ding ceremony

The bou­quet and wed­ding flow­ers are by Mary from Mary’s flower bas­ket in Heaton Moor — a riot of colour.
One of Katy’s favourite images and mine as well: Sarah glances ner­vously around, smil­ing and excited as she enters the church on her dad’s arm. He looks so very proud of his lit­tle girl.
A beau­ti­ful church for a cou­ple with very strong Chris­t­ian faith and fam­ily links to the church.




This is All Saint’s Church in Marple, and that is Dan’s dad who dou­bles as a vicar. The cer­e­mony — as described on Katy Lunsford’s wed­ding pho­tog­ra­phy blog — was a real fam­ily affair. Friends of the bride and groom pro­vided the music and prayers, then there were read­ings from Dan’s sis­ters and Sarah’s sis­ters sang.

Sarah and Dan’s recep­tion was in the church, which had been cre­atively trans­formed by fam­ily and friends into a truly mag­i­cal space for the recep­tion.
