Finding wedding suppliers should be easy. With the internet at your fingertips you can browse online and look at invitation websites, photographers and favours, and then get in touch with the one you like best, right?
That’s only how it should be. In reality there are hundreds of wedding photographers in your area, and thousands of wedding stationers to choose from around the UK. Have you ever found yourself looking at them all, and still unable to decide? Welcome to our world!!
If you’re sick of searching, or just want to get it over with quickly and find what you love, rationalise the way you search for wedding suppliers with this guide. I hope it will help.
Two groups of wedding suppliers
Mentally sort your wedding suppliers into two groups:
Wedding supplier group 1
People who’ll be at your wedding, who you’ll spend a bit of time in meetings with, who are local (dress shop, hairdresser, make up artist, photographer, planner, toastmaster, caterers) — the guys you’ll need to like.
Wedding supplier group 2
People who provide a service before your wedding day, where the product or service is the important thing, not the provider, and you don’t necessarily need to buy locally (stationer, florist, jeweller) — where you just want to buy something gorgeous, quickly and easily.
You’ll need to approach each group in a different way, do your research in different places and be on the look out for different qualities. Coming up on Monday I’ll share a few tips on finding wedding suppliers in group 1, then we’ll look at group 2.

great idea — weddings are a minefield and finding decent suppliers is a needle in a haystack job!! xx
A good point in splitting them up this way. Anything to make things easier.
