Charlotte and Matt’s Wiltshire wedding, featured here on Sunday, was a classy and traditional occasion. The wedding colours were white with a touch of coffee — the bridesmaids’ dresses looked lovely in different styles but the same colour.
Green Union fair trade wedding dresses

Wedding dresses from Green Union are designed in London and handmade in India under fair trade conditions.
I wanted to show you these wedding dresses from the wonderful Green Union online boutique — the colours are similar to Charlotte’s bridesmaids with touches of soft gold rather than coffee (ok perhaps the link is a little tenuous, but it’s worth it to show you these!)
How much is a fair trade wedding dress?
The prices of these dresses are just right: high enough that you know you’re getting a beautifully made, quality wedding gown, but starting at £450 for the dress in the centre, there’s an affordable option for every eco-chic UK bride. The peacock wedding dress is £1,600 — every dress in this style is hand made to order. The Abbie wedding dress with the silk sash is £450, available within 6 weeks of ordering online. My favourite for its distinctive and unusual style is the wedding coat dress… sadly only available in a size 12. But it is gorgeous.
There’s a cheaper alternative… Green Union sell the beautiful cotton, satin and silk organic wedding dress fabrics they use for their wedding dresses. A gorgeous opportunity for wedding dress makers in the UK, but take it easy if you’re just a keen crafter. Might be a tad ambitious for a DIY wedding project!
