Compare and contrast this wedding with our very English wedding from last week. What’s the same? Tell me in the comment form and win a bar of Green & Black’s!
This is a great wedding for details. The photography is by Caroline Pilling, one of my favourite wedding photographers, based in Somerset. Is it just me or do the girls have a natural skill for picking up on the little details — the wedding bouquet, stationery, etc. — that you don’t see as often with male photographers? (Prove me wrong then… answers on an email, guys!)
Caroline’s pictures get all the details, she also has a great style with the curvy bubble-shaped venue shots, and there are many pictures here where eye contact and interaction between the guests is what makes for a really striking image.
The venue is the Rectory Hotel in Crudwell, Wiltshire. It’s a great venue, really charming and olde-worldy English in style. They have a lovely lawn set out with tables for wedding guests, and modest gardens with carefully manicured little hedges. All very quaint and — without being condescending — nice. Really nice.

I love this: you do me, and then I’ll do you, and you two over there do each other, and we should be ready by 1pm. (Is it always like this?!)

I like the similar but not identical bridesmaids dresses. It’s a great idea, gives more flexibility than aiming for all your bridesmaids in the same dress.
I love the halterneck dress which really suits Charlotte, she has a lovely big smile and her hair is so pretty — this is a wedding photo to keep, I love it.
The Rectory has a permanent marquee which is fab for smaller receptions. A marquee is also a blank canvas, perfect for decorating in your colours.
My experience of wedding forums and magazines tells me the little details are massively important — and hours of searching for the perfect napkin ring, vase and cake mean you should have a damn good picture of all of them. Like these!
The eyes have it. There are giggles, sad moments and belly laughs in the speeches. So much to get in 3 pictures, and nicely done.
I love Rebekah Daley, and because we work in similar fields in the wedding industry I could spot her work immediately. (For the record she’s miles and miles — light years — ahead of me as an illustrator!) Rebekah and her team create the most amazing couture wedding stationery based around custom portraits of the bride and groom in Rebekah’s own elegant and inimitable style.
I’ll write a dedicated feature on Rebekah Daley later this week — she’s amazing, don’t miss it.
Thanks to Caroline Pilling for submitting this wedding. Caroline, you’re fantastic. Send more soon! In case you don’t, I’m subscribing to your wedding photo blog as of today so I don’t miss anything. xx

Lovely photos. Beautiful couple. Fab napkins rings. Is it the same venue as last week?
Thanks Claire for featuring this wedding — it was a lovely day and a joy to photograph!

Chocolate bar goes to Julie, with the eyes like a hawk and memory like an elephant. Yes, The Rectory Hotel seems to keep cropping up, from different photographers, all the time! It’s beautiful though, I’d feature it every week.
Thanks for your comment too Caroline, and thanks again for the lovely wedding pics.
