Emerald Isle wedding

What setting could be more romantic than Ireland for a wedding? With lovely castles, a rich history and a famously warm welcome, this Irish wedding looks like a real treat.

Capturing the spirit of a wonderful wedding day in Ireland

I loved this wedding instantly when I stumbled across it on the wedding photography website and blog of Greenlees Photography. Based in Hertfordshire, wedding photographer Colin Greenlees was lucky enough to be invited over to Ireland to shoot Jo & David’s wedding in May.

Castle Durrow

Castle Durrow on a perfect wedding day!

Jo and David are an English couple who got married in Ireland, at the gorgeous Castle Durrow in county Laois. Castle Durrow is a 4 star luxury wedding venue just 90 minutes from Dublin. This photograph shows it at its very best, with the gorgeous green grass so carefully mown it points directly at the venue!

Bride with telescope

Jo enjoys the view from Castle Durrow

Castle Durrow has some wonderful little quirks, including this telescope with which guests can admire the gardens! With the gardens reflected so clearly in the glass of the telescope, and Jo’s great smile, this is a lovely picture.

wedding colour palette

I love the colours in this photo!

I just adore the colours in this photograph — the make up artist’s kit is beautiful in itself!

Jo inside the wedding venue

Jo looks at home in the luxurious setting of Castle Durrow

Jo’s dress is a real princess style, with pretty, thin shoulder straps, a crystal-covered bodice and long flowing skirt in white. It suits her curvy figure perfectly. This photograph uses the grand setting of the venue with its high windows and great views to emphasise the drama of Jo’s wedding dress.

bride and her dad

The staircase of the castle is a great photo opportunity

A classic shot at Castle Durrow, the bride and her dad make their entrance via the grand staircase. The light and tapestries add an air of grandeur to the picture.

wedding ceremony

Jo and David’s wedding ceremony

Jo and David are raptly attentive during the wedding ceremony. Jo looks gorgeous with her hair up, twisted in lovely curls and with her gorgeous tiara. David’s suit complements her dress, with classic whites for his waistcoat, tie and buttonhole.

bride and groom in the library

Jo and David pose for a traditional picture in the castle library

The happy couple! This is a classic shot, made really special with the background adding more elegance and sophistication to a beautiful image of the bride and groom. Jo’s smile is gorgeous and her dress is so perfect for her. She carries a simple bouquet of ivory roses.

confident bride

I love Jo! She’s gorgeous and full of fun. Great photo.

Jo’s confidence and playfulness is inspiring! What a fantastic photo, showing her personality and of course showing off her gorgeous figure!

bride drinking guinness

Jo has a taste of the local speciality!

Aft er the wedding, it’s time to delicately sip some champagne… or not! It’s only polite to try the local fare, of course!

bride drinking guinness

A fantastic picture of Jo enjoying a pint of Guinness!

It looks like the Guinness has gone down a treat! What a fab photo.

wedding pub photo

When in Rome — sorry, Ireland… love this wedding photo!

Bob’s bar is a lovely little pub near the bridge in Durrow. I love this relaxed photograph of the groomsmen and of Jo and David stealing a kiss in the doorway.

bride and groom portrait

A romantic photograph of the bride and groom

This picture is softly lit and looks ever so romantic. I love the variety of photographs from this wedding. The bride and groom look contemplative, relaxed and happy.

bride and groom in gardens

The lush gardens of Castle Durrow are a great backdrop

Another really romantic wedding picture of David and Jo. The greenery behind just adds to the Irish / celtic feel of this wedding.

bride and groom at Castle Durrow

A reminder of a beautiful wedding venue

Outside Castle Durrow as the sunlight begins to fade. There’s a certain pride to David and Jo, and again their confidence shines through. The soft lines in the grass, and even the clouds in the sky, seem to be pointing towards the venue.

Bride and groom

My favourite shot from this English wedding in Ireland

A gorgeous last picture of the bride and groom: Jo and David share a kiss as evening falls. The blue of the sky behind them is divine.

Thanks to Colin from Greenlees Photography for submitting this fab wedding to the blog. Colin’s based in Hertfordshire but I don’t doubt he’d love another wedding photography booking at Castle Durrow!

Check out Colin’s wedding photography blog for more photos from David & Jo’s wedding and sign up to his Facebook page for his latest weddings.
