Sophie and Chris's gorgeous April wedding is such a perfect fit for my blog, I'm delighted to share it with you. Wedding photographer Kevin Mullins submitted these pictures last month, and I hope you'll find them truly inspiring as I do! Sit back and enjoy...
Sophie looks very much the English rose (honestly, this wedding couldn't be more perfect for us!) She applied her own wedding make up and I love the romance of this picture with the wedding veil and mirror.
Making their way to wedding venue Malmesbury Abbey, Sophie and her little bridesmaid are completely caught in the moment. A lovely natural wedding picture. The bridesmaid is carrying a little sheepdog - I love little personal touches like this!
Inside the abbey, this picture captures a moment without giving too much away. I love the line of Sophie's veil swirling down towards the floor.
Inside Malmesbury Abbey. Sophie and Chris look so happy. I'm sure their knuckles are white where they're holding hands really tightly - and they both look fantastic. Sophie's dress is lovely on her, with a fabric flower on one hip, ruched fabric and a lovely full skirt. Chris wears a traditional lounge suit with gold waistcoat and tie.
This is my favourite picture from Sophie and Chris's wedding day. I love the back of Sophie's dress, her beautiful complexion (I've wanted freckles since I was 5!) and the way her little bridesmaid is clutching the wedding dress. The bridesmaid is so cute, and her little vintage style dress is perfect.
In the beautiful April sunshine, Sophie smiles and enjoys the wedding day. This is a stunning picture with her hair shining in the sunlight, her lovely smile and the light and shadow playing across her face.
What I love most about this oh-so-English wedding is the fun and games after the ceremony. The reception was held at The Rectory Hotel in Malmesbury, a pretty period house with lovely gardens. The first of many excellent wedding photos with outdoor games, here Sophie has champagne in one hand, table tennis bat in the other!
Smart suits are all well and good, but relaxing after the ceremony and having a great time is important too… and I love this picture. The young badminton player strikes the perfect casual pose as he serves.
Casual, and strikingly feminine, Sophie will have unusual wedding photos to remember! How many brides are snapped leaning contemplatively on a cricket bat? The wedding dress is lovely, simply cut and falling beautifully to the grass. Sophie’s vintage style hair clip is a great touch.
The outdoor games aren’t just for show either, Sophie is happy to get stuck in and enjoys the cricket as much as anyone!
… and whoever said you couldn’t run on grass in a wedding dress and high heels? In fact the dress and petticoats look amazing in this picture, and Sophie’s expression is great!
Everyone enjoys the cricket, and all the wedding guests have a whale of a time.
The little bridesmaid is adorable in every picture. The little dress is all the more cute for being floor-length, and it’s clear who’s making the rules in this match! What a cute umpire!
… but has our little bridsmaid met her match on the badminton court? The interactions between guests are caught beautifully by Wiltshire wedding photographer Kevin Mullins.
A more relaxed side of the wedding venue: The Rectory Hotel is an idyllic wedding venue.
At the end of a really amazing wedding day, Chris and Sophie brave a storm of rose petal confetti to set off on their honeymoon.
Thanks to Kevin Mullins for submitting this wedding for the blog. I’m proud to share it with you today. What could fit the English Wedding blog better than this?! Wonderful.

Kevin is a talented photographer and we move in similar circles so I was delighted to see you feature him on your site. The other little piece of detail was the crick bats are gray nicholls, fine English mastercraftsmen of the coveted willow
Howzat!
Another fine addition to your site Claire, great writing to compliment the great images

Thanks for your comment, Chris. Hope you’re enjoying the wedding season & sunshine. Gray Nicholls — I’ll impress someone with my new cricketing knowledge one day. (Will stash it with my staggering ability to identify tractors by colour.) More importantly — glad you enjoyed this wedding feature. I’ve been enjoying Kevin’s blog, he’s fab.

Good work Kevin, I love this site, thanks for introducing me to it. I photographed a couple of “Very English Wedding’s” this glorious weekend too, one in Stratford Upon Avon and the other at Umberslade hall and Tamworth in Arden — although neither involved cricket! With the weather as fabulous as it has been, it makes an easy job!
Great blog Claire. I love this site.
Great photography Kevin Mullins. The bridesmaid is too cute!
Thanks Claire for featuring this wedding. Thanks for all the kind words Chris. Steve & Julie.….
