Charlotte and Tim held their wedding and reception at the gorgeous English wedding venue Halswell House in Somerset. Charlotte’s sense of style is what hooked me in to these wedding photos by Caroline Pilling — I know you’ll love these as much as I do!
My favourite photograph from Charlotte and Tim’s wedding is this one. Everything about it is perfect: the bride and groom looking into each other’s eyes, the gorgeous arrangement of the wedding dress, and — did you notice Charlotte’s fabby shoes?! Charlotte is a stunningly beautiful bride, a gorgeous brunette with an enchanting smile and a lovely figure. She wears an Enzoani dress, ‘Berkeley’ from Bellissima bridal in Essex.
Somerset’s Halswell House is an historic William & Mary stately home in a wonderful countryside setting, with rolling lawns and fine views across the Quantock Hills. Although it rained on Charlotte and Tim’s wedding day, photographer Caroline Pilling took some really inspirational wedding photos making the most of this exquisite English wedding venue.
The bridal shoes always make a classic wedding photo for the album. When the bridesmaids’ shoes are stunning too, I love to see a picture of those — and these fuchsia pink open toed shoes from Barratts are fantastic!

Charlotte’s creative use of colour is wonderful. These are fabulous wedding shoes in royal purple. Wow!
Talk about making a statement! These purple wedding shoes are gorgeous. I love the brooch on the shoe, and the way they speak volumes about Charlotte’s sense of style!
Charlotte has a great time getting ready for the wedding with the girls. A bottle of Veuve Clicquot adds to the party atmosphere! Charlotte’s necklace and hairpiece are gorgeous, exquisite statement bridal jewellery.
Tim is more sedate in his preparations for the wedding, and he looks great in a white suit and ascot tie, with a white waistcoat and full morning suit.
The wedding ceremony at Halswell House was very emotional, full of smiles and some happy tears (see Caroline Pilling’s wedding photographyblog for more photos). I love this picture of the bride and groom laughing together. Charlotte’s birdcage veil is a lovely touch, framing her beautiful smile. I love the wrap-style bodice and sweetheart neckline which work so well with Charlotte’s bridal jewellery.
The wedding table plan is really nicely done. It has something of an art deco style, with a lovely floral backing paper, straight decorative font and rounded corners to each table. I love the little flower on each table too.
The ice cream man is perfect for the occasion! I love the quaint little ice cream cart, his waistcoat and hat… this is the kind of little extra treat that makes a memorable wedding for all of your guests. It shows on the guests’ faces — eager anticipation in the queue; delight from the guy at the front!

A fantastic picture of the bridal party, relaxed and happy with splashes of pastel blue and hot pink
This relaxed photograph of the bridal party is lovely, another favourite for me. The natural smiles on everyone’s faces, the bride and groom everyone’s focus, and Tim looking straight at the camera. I love the colours too: the pale blue bridesmaids’ dresses and pink shoes look fantastic!
Halswell house is a stunning wedding venue with some fantastic features. This archway frames the bride and groom beautifully. I love Charlotte’s dress in this photograph, which makes her the centre of attention in a beautifully composed picture.

The ballroom at Halswell House makes a great period backdrop for this very stylish wedding photograph
Another shot from inside the wedding venue, Charlotte and Tim share a private moment while photographer Caroline snaps away. Their natural pose and Charlotte’s smile make this the kind of picture I really love.
Charlotte and Tim’s main wedding cake is a croquembouche: a traditional French style wedding cake made from a splendid tower of cream-filled choux buns. Drizzled with butterscotch sauce, decorated with little roses, and finished with a silver monogram, this wedding cake from Lick The Spoon is a bit of a masterpiece!
The wedding cupcakes always make a lovely picture. Compared to standard wedding cakes which can look like sculptures, cupcakes always look so lovely and edible! I can almost taste these lovely swirly cupcakes!
The wedding reception at Halswell House is in a tasteful and elegant oak panelled dining room. I love this curvy photograph of the wedding tables all set out ready for the meal.
Charlotte’s smile is beautiful, and as she makes her speech and glances towards Tim, this picture taken from across the room captures a special moment. The overall feeling I get from these wedding photographs is just of a really happy, relaxed and fun wedding day. It just seems perfect!
