I was in the mood for something bright and cheerful when I found this wedding on Andi Goodman’s wedding photography site — and it’s just a feast of colours and textures — a stunner! Not only that, the bride and groom are so very gorgeous, I had to feature this! Enjoy…
Andi was at the venue early in the morning to see this gorgeous sunrise on the day of Amir and Lesley’s wedding. A great start to what turns out to be a beautiful October day.
Lesley is slender and willowy, and her backless wedding gown flattered her figure. Her designer wedding dress was covered in delicate embroidery giving it a very classic, vintage style. The halter neck also looks very beautiful on Lesley, and she emphasises the shape of her gorgeous wedding dress in this photograph taken before the ceremony.
Sitting with her friends before the wedding begins, Lesley just looks amazing. Amir spends the time before the wedding with his best man, and he’s the picture of happiness! The photograph is a great one too, with the exquisitely carved banisters at Bovey Castle framing the shot.
Lesley and Amir are a very, very handsome couple. And both look born to wear their wedding day finery! The soft shadows in both of these pictures look wonderful. Amir looks great in his top hat while Lesley wears a sheer veil, and little gold hairpins with pearls to complement that gorgeous wedding dress.
The wedding was in October and the theme and colours were rich autumnal shades, with everything from golden orange flowers to luxurious coppery tones, reds and burgundy in the wedding flowers. I love this piture of the chair covers at the reception — it’s perfectly arranged and makes a great photograph.
The wedding flowers are stunning, from Lesley’s bouquet through to the table decorations, with calla lilies in rich golden colours taking centre stage. These two photographs capture the colours beautifully. Makes you think wow, doesn’t it. I don’t know what the red seed heads are, but they add such flavour and personality to the wedding flowers. The wedding was on the 31st, so the shape of these is a little reminiscent of pumpkins… perfect for Hallowe’en!
Andi took this lovely photograph during the wedding ceremony itself, which was held in the cathedral room of Bovey Castle, a beautiful regal style room with balcony and gorgeous wooden panelling, which can cater for up to 150 wedding guests for your wedding ceremony. Amir and Lesley share a very happy moment, huge smiles on both their faces — clearly a case of “happily ever after”!
The speeches look great. I love looking at photographs of wedding speeches, because it’s a great opportunity to see what your photographer can do… so many emotions, precious and fleeting moments where you laugh until you cry, with thoughtful moments, romantic memories and embarrassing stories galore! Andi gets it just right: Lesley and Amir helpless with laughter at the best man’s speech. Two great pictures.
Outside, Amir and Lesley have a formal portrait session and everything comes together beautifully for some romantic, dramatic and beautiful wedding pictures. I love how these two put their hearts into those wonderful smiles every time! This photograph of the bride and groom hints at a very interesting sky, with the beautiful Dartmoor valley view in the background.
One of my favourite pictures, this is Bovey Castle in all its glory. What a magnificent wedding venue. Set in the heart of Devon, in the beautiful Dartmoor National Park, Bovey was originally a manor house, dating from 1880 and with a colourful history to its name. This photograph really makes the most of the clouds and blue sky, turning the castle into a truly dramatic setting for Amir and Lesley’s wedding day. I love this picture — a pretty blue sky just wouldn’t have done it justice.
From dramatic vistas to idyllic landscaped gardens in the grandest of styles, Bovey Castle has it all. This is a classic view and deservedly so — you’ll see similar pictures in Bovey’s own wedding brochure. Andi makes the most of the still waters and reflections to create a beautifully composed, colourful photograph of the bride and groom. It seems a world away from the previous photograph of the castle: this is a private, romantic picture and makes such a lovely contrast.
The beautifully tended gardens at Bovey Castle make a fantastic playground for a wedding photographer! Relaxed and happy, Lesley and Amir laugh together as they take a walk along the lawn… I think it’s the top hat, but Amir looks right at home! Lesley holds her dress with such poise and elegance too. They could be lord and lady of the manor in this picture.
It’s a shame every wedding feature has to come to an end, and this is one I’ve really loved writing. With the hotel spa in the background, Lesley and Amir hold hands in this last picture, as darkness falls on their wedding day. I do like the silhouette idea — the window and the soft lighting behind make this work so well. The perfect finishing touch to what I’m sure will be a wonderful wedding album! Lesley still looks stunningly beautiful, and Amir is still grinning I’m sure!
Thanks to Andi Goodman for submitting this wedding. I’m impressed that he was on location as the sun rose, and still there after it set! I’ve really enjoyed those lush autumn colours, the magnificent setting and the absolutely stunning bride and groom! Andi has just relaunched his website so please do take a look — Andi Goodman Oxfordshire wedding photographer and you can find out more about Andi and his work on his new photography blog.
