What’s so special about English weddings? They’re cool.

This is my lightbulb moment. This is why we want to see English wedding pictures – and right now, for me, Lee Allen is a revelation! His style is elegant and very contemporary, and this vintage wedding showcases his recent work  so, so well. Thanks Lee for letting me share these amazing vintage wedding photos!

My favourite images of Matt and Katie's wedding - just stunning

Credit of course to the bride and groom: such a cool couple, and bride Katie is absolutely stunning in her vintage wedding dress and accessories. The wedding ceremony was held at Shugborough’s amazing Tower of the Winds, a great choice of venue which also has that vintage feeling to it.

I love it I love it I love it! Matt and Katie - the coolest bride and groom bar none!

Married! The high five is American; the cool factor is oh so English!

Are you smiling yet? Matt and Katie just have it, don’t they. That English sense of fun, love of fashion, and natural stylishness.  I love the planning detail for this wedding feature – talk about travelling in style!

I think Katie’s expression on this photograph is fantastic. She looks gorgeous, happy and I’m glad to get a close up of those excellent glasses – I want a pair! Lee takes a photograph of the groom and best man which would look great on the facing page of a wedding album. This photographer knows his stuff!

I love the ceremony rooms at Shugborough – it’s the perfect setting for a vintage English wedding. Here Lee has captured those important moments: the wedding ring, and that moment of “Wow – we just got married!!”

Keeping with English wedding traditions: some classic photography with swans, and a sprinkling of colourful confetti

Matt and Katie spend some quiet moments alone following the wedding ceremony, quietly divesting the confetti into the local duck pond… no, I’m making that up. The grounds of Shugborough are lovely and well worth a break for some beautiful wedding photographs.

Here’s another wedding photo I think is fantastic -  probably not a shot you’d have seen in a vintage wedding photo album, but a contemporary English photographer’s perspective of a vintage wedding! Love it!

Party time, and the sky lanterns are a highlight for every wedding guest

Party time, and the sky lanterns are a highlight for every wedding guest

The biggest wedding trend to kick off this year has been sky lanterns, and I can’t get enough of them. Kids and adults alike love to see those silent shapes float off into the night – and this wedding is no exception. While Matt and Katie relax at their reception at the Moat House Hotel, Lee is still busy taking all the fabulous photos to help them remember their big day.

The end of a perfect wedding day.

The end of a perfect wedding day.

As night falls, Matt and Katie share a loving moment in the grounds of the Moat House. It’s the perfect end to a perfect day, and time for one of the best contemporary wedding photographers in England to head back to the studio and get to work!

I’d like to thank Lee Allen for sharing these amazing pics – they’re really inspirational and I can’t wait to see more weddings like this one.
