A Family Affair

This photo shows just how magical this family oriented wedding must have been!

I was so pleased to find this wedding by photographer Rob Gallop, as I’ve been looking for a very family-oriented wedding for a couple of weeks. I love that bride and groom Fi and Andy, as well as all of their family, obviously ‘clicked’ with their photographer and got such amazing photos as a result.

Wedding preparations — and the cutest cat!

Fi’s dress was stunning, with a cascading skirt and delicate vintage style floral detailing. I adore soft colours on wedding dresses, and this palest of golds is breathtaking. I also think every wedding photo shoot should begin with a cat this adorable! (Cat wears fashionable monochrome wedding outfit, elegant long whiskers and white fur boots!)

One little boy will remember this moment as a highlight! Driving the wedding car…

Fi and Andy welcomed children at their wedding, and photographer Rob from RG Photographic captures the fun spirit of their wedding day in lots of photographs. Here a young driver has a go with the wedding car — and is clearly very happy to pose for a photo, with a huge grin at the camera.

Father of the Bride: photographer Rob gets those precious moments for the album

The ceremony itself can pass so quickly, but it’s one every bride and groom will want to remember forever. Andy and Fi will treasure these photos: they make a perfect couple, and Fi’s dad sheds a happy tear for them while only Rob is looking!

An emotional moment for the bride and groom

Rob Gallop’s photography style is relaxed and unobtrusive. In this photo groom Andy could be alone in the room with only his beautiful bride — I love this photo, which captures a very special moment. Fi’s veil is chapel length, with gold trim to complement her dress. Her fascinator has pale gold feathers and bead detail — it’s delicate and a wonderful alternative to a tiara.

Andy and Fi pose for a formal wedding photo by the car

Fi is a beautiful bride. This photograph is one of my favourites.

After the wedding ceremony, some formal shots were taken outside the wedding venue before the meal. Fi’s dress looks amazing as she poses with Andy beside the wedding car, and I love this photograph of her with her bouquet against a black and white background — the soft colour of the wedding dress makes this a stunning image.

The details: cute cake topper, guest book monitors, edible bride and wedding tables

There are some great wedding detail shots in this album too: Rob certainly doesn’t neglect the finer details — which are shot with a sense of humour too: the wedding cake topper is cute (and the roses on the cake are gorgeous, matching Fi’s dress). The wedding guest book is watched over by more friendly faces, while the bride and groom gingerbread figures are just too good to resist! Fi’s simple bridal bouquet of cream gerberas makes for a lovely photograph.

That amazing wedding dress in all its glory. Wow.

Fi’s gorgeous wedding dress is the focus of many wedding photographs, these are just a couple of my favourites. Here we see a sneak peek at her glittery gold shoes — they’re perfect too! Yes, you’ll need help at times with a dress this fabulous. But isn’t it worth it! Ruched skirts in this style are set to be a big trend again in 2010, with English wedding designers coming up with more variations on an amazingly opulent style. (Fi’s is still one of my top favourites!)

This group shot is full of smiling faces, and Fi’s bridesmaids look lovely in soft chocolate tones

Once more the wedding photographer’s focus is on family and friends; Fi and Andy are surrounded by smiling faces, and Fi’s four gorgeous bridesmaids pose for a photo together.

Andy has a go with some of the kids’ bubbles — and Rob gets another great photo!

The best wedding photographers appear relaxed, and don’t intrude on your day. That way you get natural photos of people smiling. The best of the best will also be alert all the time — and when a great photo opportunity arises, they will make sure they’re there. This is a fantastic picture.

The happy bride, and the first dance at Fi and Andy’s wedding

Two more photographs, both with Fi’s amazing dress but from a different perspective. In the first photograph I love the light and shadow effects — a trick not to be missed with a structured dress like Fi’s. The second image is of the first dance, and as Fi holds Andy, her dress trails behind her in such a lovely shape. It’s the little things like this which make a wedding album so special — there are memories you want to preserve, and details you didn’t notice on the day — and that’s why you need a great photographer!

Some fun wedding photos: the bouquet is briefly used as a weapon

If you’re comfortable with your wedding photographer you can really enjoy the formal photo sessions. Here Andy gently taps Fi on her head with the wedding bouquet while she pulls a funny face… then she gleefully lamps him one over the head with it while he begs for mercy. These made me laugh out loud!

That amazing wedding dress and chapel veil.

Last but not least, one last look at Fi’s beautiful dress. The veil is a lovely accessory for this dress: with the three layers ending in that twisting gold trim, it echoes the elegant folds of the dress in such a lovely way.

I have great admiration for Rob Gallop. His website and photography blog have lots more fantastic images I highly recommend a look at. And for some more stunning shots of Fi, visit Rob’s Flickr photo gallery to see her Trash the Dress pictures, which are even more amazing!

Thanks to Reading-based wedding photographer Rob Gallop for submitting these photographs, and to Fi and Andy for letting us share such wonderful moments on the English wedding blog. It’s been a real treat!
